I would be seriously depressed if they hired Cotrell as the HC, no doubt about that. Rivera is being courted by the Packers and Rams and I hope the Vikings are taking a look at him.
I am not sure that Ted can make anymore headway in the offensive venue then he did in the defensive

I really feel a team needs to look where there was success and not potential

    Sorry Ted, no hard feelings
Yah know a cave is really just a hole on its side

    Re: Top Vikings candidates disappear

I am going to ignore all comments on Martz becoming our next head coach, because my work (were I am right now) has many machines that will take my life.

Here are some BIO's of the candidates

    Brad Childress
    http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/team/coachbio.jsp?id=639

    Al Saunders
    http://www.kcchiefs.com/coach/al_saunders/

    Ted Cottrell
    http://vikings.com/coach_detail_objectname_todd_cottrell.html

    Ron Rivera
    http://www.chicagobears.com/team/coachbio.jsp?id=33

    Kirk Ferentz
    http://hawkeyesports.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/ferentz_kirk00.html

Personally I would love to get Rivera in here. He is young has worked in quality franchises and under two very good HCs. Oh ya, and he's put together one of the better defensive units in football.
If I hear Michelle Bonner say "He works that one to right" one more time, I m getting on a plane for Bristol, going to the ESPNEWS set, and ripping out her vocal cords.

    Hmmm. BECAUSE HE SUCKS.

He has our DB's playing 10 yards off of the recievers when they are throwing short passes to them play after play. He left fred smoot covering Steve Smith for an entire game with no help. HIS OWN PLAYER called him out on what a bad job he is doing. the list goes on! He doesn't deserve to be a coordinator, much less a head coach.

well john clayton said vikings are likely to get saunders or childres .

i would like either but would perfer a defencive coach.
I know where you are coming from, but i really think the vikings need and offensive minded head coach like Childress, Saunders, or Martz... because Cotrell needs to stay as the D cordinator... he has been doing very well with our defense as they started to gel in the second half of the season... and all the players like him and will play his scheme bette next season. But with all the helter scelter on offense this year, with looney as the OC then Tice calling plays then bringing in whats his face to help both of them... we just need an offensive minded head coach to come in and get all of that stuff squared away... so we can get back on tract when Cpep is healthy and ready to go next season...

    Why? Here are some reasons:

    1. His schemes are too complicated, or so the players say.
    2. His schemes do not play to our strengths.
    3. We never come out and blitz from the start; only in the 2nd half when we are losing.
    4. We do not get a good jam at the line on WR's. With the WR running free without anybody in their face the timing between the QB and WR is not disturbed (see Carolina and Cincy game).
