    Tomlin to interview with Dolphins

    From PFT:

    TOMLIN TO INTERVIEW WITH FINS

After only one year as the defensive coordinator of the Vikings, Mike Tomlin looks to be poised for greener pastures.

Alex Marvez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Tomlin will be interviewed by the Dolphins for the position vacated by Nick Saban.

Dolphins receive permission to interview Tomlin
    Friday, January 5th, 2007

Miami received permission from the Vikings this afternoon to interview defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin for the Dolphins’ vacant head coaching position, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The report says the Dolphins are in Atlanta today to interview Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey and former Falcons coach Jim Mora. The Dolphins also have scheduled San Diego offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, Chicago defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner for interviews this weekend.

I would be SHOCKED if Huizenga went from big-name, big-money to no-name, no-money.
Tomlin's black and young, so he's going to get interviews every year to satisfy the NFL's hiring practices.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Tomlin is being shown some interest from the steelers, falcons and the dolphins. this is not a good sign for the vikings.

To say just because "Tomlin is black and young" is stupid. he had top rush defense, kept offenses from scoring a ton of points till the rams game. he has proven he can coach. i dont see dennis green being mentioned as a candidate for any of these jobs, so to say hes being considered JUST because hes black is a rascist statement in my book, even if it is true because of the rooney rule.

the greedy old white men needed this rule to force their hand to consider people other than from their own race to be HC.

i would say too that first year young HCs this year have made a case, that you can turn a program around with a young energetic HC (saints, packers, jets), childress is old and un-energetic so could also provide some clout to this statement.

Just because he is interviewing does not mean he is leaving.
He has had 1 measly year as a Coordinator.

Somebody mentioned the fact that Miami, and other teams, may just be satisfying the NFL's requirement to interview a minority for the job.

Yeah, that's what was said about Tony Dungy as well.
