    Tomlin challenges fans

Thursday, December 14th, 2006 by Judd Zulgad

Defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin proved again today why he very well might be the most savvy member of the Vikings coaching staff. Tomlin issued a call to fans to help the team out Sunday against the Jets and their no-huddle offense.

“It’s going to be a big challenge for us,” Tomlin said. “We anticipate them potentially to operate out of the no-huddle offense. That has been a weapon of theirs on the road. A lot of people resist no-huddle offense for communication purposes on the road. The [Jets] welcome that challenge. They feel like over time they will take the fans out of the game.

“I think their philosophy is when you huddle up the fans are cued into when to increase the crowd noise, so I’ll issue a challenge to our fans this week to combat that by being loud throughout the course of a drive when they are on offense. They are going to try to wear our fans down and hopefully home-field advantage will be a weapon for us.”

How smart is this move on Tomlin’s part? Just when fans were thinking Brad Childress and Co., didn’t care about you, Tomlin makes you feel special again. Brilliant. Simply brilliant. Tomlin should get a paycheck from the Vikings marketing staff this week.

I really like Tomlin. He is a bright young guy in our coaching staff.
I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it!!

Not that I needed a reason to be loud on Sunday... but I definitely don't plan on having a voice on Monday.

Isn't that what you go to games for is to yell?!?!?
I have never had a voice after a game.

We aren't titled the loudest fans in the NFL for nothing!

    To those that are going:
I will be sitting on the couch yelling too.

I do agree though that the dome was pretty quiet that day...must have been b/c Denny Greene was in the house.

If you can't talk or hear after the game, you know you have done your part.

Honestly, the dome was not as loud as usual during the GB game or the Cards game.
We really need to turn it around on Sunday and get LOUD!

I was also at the Green Bay game...it was on my birthday but I think I was too drunk to remember how loud the crowd was.
I was running around razzing the Packer fans but I do know that I couldn't talk for a week after that game.
(That is where the pic in my sig came from)

I am hoping to get tickets to take my dad and brother in law to the Rams game.

When I graduate with my nursing degree all I want is Season Tickets!!!
