Time for Vikings & Peterson to Figure Out Peterson
Time for Vikings and Peterson to Figure Out Peterson
Hmmmmmm, alot of insteresting takes in that one. Most of them I don't agree with, however, this one I do......
Quote:
Starting with the game this week against the Miami Dolphins, it is time for the Vikings to figure out how to use Peterson (including employing him in a substantial role as a receiver in the screen game) and it is time for Peterson to produce in accordance with what he believes himself to be as a running back in the NFL.
I think we will see AD used in more of a everydown back this year (saw some indications of them working on it in preseason and again in the Aint's game thurs).
Question is, is it the playcalling or the guy at the line barking out the audible when one considers how AD is used.........?

Figure him out? How about use him.

22 touches, same as he averaged in 09.

and 4 touches in the 2nd half. I bet he didn't average that.
Re: Time for Vikings & Peterson to Figure Out Peterson
Yeah ... and in 09 we had Taylor averaging a handful of touches to take away from Adrian.
22 touches is too low anyway. And there definitely was no reason for him not to have more carries in the second half of that contest.
He ran EXTREMELY well on Thursday night ... also had one big play negated by penalty. He was the only spark on our offense except for Shank.
It made little sense that he did not get a much more significant role in the second half.
But this guy writing like Adrian was a let down against the Saints is an idiot. The lack of touches when he was clearly on his game was the let down. Adrian did what he could when given opportunities.

Where are you getting your numbers from? I count 6 carries and 1 reception for Peterson in the second half.
The problem was that Favre was 0-7, with a sack, to start the second half, which killed our first 4 drives of the 2nd half.
On the final drive they did go to Favre, but if you look at the situations they were forced into it.(down by a TD, holding call put us in 1st and lond).
When things go bad everyone blames the coach, but the coach can't do anything if the players don't execute. Favre didn't execute at all in the 2nd half(4 OF 12 FOR 36 YARDS IN THE 2ND HALF,1 1ST DOWN).
Favre put up decent numbers in the first half, 11/15 136yds.
Peterson also put up decent numbers in the first half, 13 carries 57 yards.

It was only 19 carries. Harvin had one and Young had 3. Last year in the opener Peterson had 25 carries. Harvin had 2, CT had 7, Dugan 1, and Tahi 1.
Pretty big difference.
Re: Time for Vikings & Peterson to Figure Out Peterson
I know I'm a one-note ninny about Adrian, but the most fun watching him play at OU was his dominance in the fourth quarter...His biggest runs, his absolutely consistent ripping up of the defense came late in games. I've never seen a game so well set up for him as last Thursday night's...Minnesota has YET to see AD at his best. Crappy coaching.
Why do you think he's called All Day...
