    Time of Possession

My favorite statistic so far this year is the Time of Possession (TOP).
The Vikings have come out on top in both games so far, I'm hoping they continue to win this battle by a wider margin.
    Keep the defense fresh.

Last year the Vikings only won the TOP battle six times (Weeks 3, 6, 7, 11, 12,and 13).
There isn't a strong correlation between TOP and a W, but I always check out this statistic and do believe the performance of the D during crucial times of the game can be strongly influenced by winning the TOP battle.

    Carry on.

    Okay.
    Dude.
I guess that statistic is cool, but its a stretch to say "favorite," in my opinion.
If that truly is the best stat the Vikings have this year, then wow.
We are in for a long year...

I said it was my favorite statistic so far this year, nothing more.
How can you say it's a stretch for me to say it's my favorite?
All statistics are just one way of looking at a team, and the preseason statistics are muddled over by the nature of the preseason.

The coorelation fails when you fail to score after driving for 6 or 8 minutes. It sure can't hurt to let the defense get some rest though.
I see this as very encouraging. I'm very excited about this ball control offense. It may not be flashy but it is very efficient. The Steelers couldn't stop it.
I wonder if there is a stat coorelating ,not necessarily wins but defensive efficiency, with the time the defense is on the field. Or perhaps some ratio of offense to defense playing time.
