That article confirmed nothing of the kind. It said IF he needed surgery, he would wait until after the season.http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5083142
This link confirms that Coach Tice will need surgery on his need as he tore his MCL.
The article I posted last night, which is more recent contradicts the surgery. Read;

Tice underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test Monday afternoon that, according to the coach, revealed he tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Tice's ligament was completely torn off the bone when he was upended on the sideline at Giants Stadium after being run into by New York's Jamaar Taylor during a Vikings punt return.
Despite the fact he was in obvious pain Monday during his news conference and wearing a brace under his dress pants, Tice won't need surgery. He didn't have any damage to the anterior cruciate ligament and his MCL should heal in six weeks.
Tice, whose team beat the Giants 24-21, made it clear the injury won't force him from the sideline up to the coaches' booth or have any impact on the preparation for Monday night's game at Green Bay.
"You can't keep me off the sideline," he said. "I would never be in the booth as a head coach and I won't be in a cart and I won't be on crutches. ... My knee has nothing to do with us winning on Monday night. I'm not worried about my knee. I don't play. I don't block. I don't practice. I can still blow that whistle with one or two knees. I can still yell with one or two knees."
