I mentioned it in another thread as well. If we dis-credited him for all the posts he had just with conversations with his brother, he'd be sitting at 2,000 instead of 5,000.

Do they live in the same house!

Anyways, congrats on the 5K Vikez4Lyfe!

Tice won't be needing surgery on hurt knee

    Judd Zulgad, Star Tribune
Last update: November 14, 2005 at 9:50 PM

Wile Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper prepares to undergo surgery today in Birmingham, Ala., to repair three torn ligaments in his right knee, coach Mike Tice found out he tore one of the same ligaments Sunday.

Tice underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test Monday afternoon that, according to the coach, revealed he tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Tice's ligament was completely torn off the bone when he was upended on the sideline at Giants Stadium after being run into by New York's Jamaar Taylor during a Vikings punt return.

Despite the fact he was in obvious pain Monday during his news conference and wearing a brace under his dress pants, Tice won't need surgery. He didn't have any damage to the anterior cruciate ligament and his MCL should heal in six weeks.

Tice, whose team beat the Giants 24-21, made it clear the injury won't force him from the sideline up to the coaches' booth or have any impact on the preparation for Monday night's game at Green Bay.

"You can't keep me off the sideline," he said. "I would never be in the booth as a head coach and I won't be in a cart and I won't be on crutches. ... My knee has nothing to do with us winning on Monday night. I'm not worried about my knee. I don't play. I don't block. I don't practice. I can still blow that whistle with one or two knees. I can still yell with one or two knees."

Culpepper, meanwhile, was doing a final consultation with renowned orthopedist James Andrews. Andrews will repair the torn anterior cruciate, medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments that Culpepper injured Oct. 30 against Carolina. Culpepper's exact recovery time, which is expected to take at least nine months, will be known once the damage is repaired.

    Moore is starter

Tice made it clear that running back Mewelde Moore will return to his starting role against Green Bay after not getting a carry Sunday.

"Mewelde will start," Tice said. "The reason that Mewelde didn't play was because of the wrist. That is the end of it. There was no other reason. Mewelde is the starter at tailback, and I thought we were better served not to play him."

Moore, who returned a punt 71 yards for a touchdown Sunday, was kept off the field on offense because of a sprained right wrist and a brace on the injury that only would have enabled him to carry the ball in his left hand. Michael Bennett started and gained 16 yards on 19 carries; the Vikings had 12 net rushing yards, second-worst in franchise history.

    Etc.

    • Running back Moe Williams is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Williams, who also is bothered by a back injury, has missed the past two games and his knee has been slow to improve.

    • Tice expressed concern about receiver Nate Burleson, who "seems banged up" according to the coach. Burleson might be given some additional time to rest when practices resumes Thursday.

    • Although the Vikings won Sunday with Zygi Wilf on the sideline for the first time this season, Tice seemed unconcerned about keeping the owner on the field. "He didn't call any defenses or anything," Tice said. "I think he had fun, but I don't know if he can help us win. We have to help ourselves win. I think he had a good time."

Yeah, he was lucky it was not worse. It looked terrible. He took it in stride pretty well though.
