Re: Tice for coach of the year

Blowing up the head coach that the team is fighting to keep could set the team back even further as for unqualified head coaches I could easily say that every coach with a losing record right now is not getting their team to play as well as Tice is getting the Vikings to play.

Lovie Smith is my selection. The Bears are playing inspired football and doing it with solid football fundamentals. The Vikings had a horrendous start this year and Tice is to blame for not having this team ready.

The Vikings may fall short to the Bears in the NFC North because of the lousy football they played in the first half of the season and making the wildcard playoff game IS NOT a major accomplishment.

There was a day when winning the division was a priority. If the Vikings are so weak that they lose to the NY Giants 41-0 again in the playoffs, I don't want them in the playoffs!

Ok, I'll give Tice some default credit.

The Vikings, even with all their injuries and pathetic start, look like the most solid team they have had in a long long time. They are not one-sided and have the potential to win with the defense, offense, or special teams. That is exciting. If Tice and company can get the team to hit on all cylinders within the next few weeks the team has the potential to beat anyone, including the Colts.

i think they should either Bring him back as Head coach again, or downgrade him to O-Line coach no matter WHAT. The players love him like a brother, and is like one of them. I think it will hurt most of them if they totally get rid of Tice, i know he has my respect.

Yeah thats right, me with probably the onlu K-ROB jersey Autograph, and Nate "the great" Burleson

I think he might have saved his job. If he manages to get us into the playoffs he has for sure.

I don't think he is a good coach and I know he wont be winning any awards anytime soon. With the level of talent we have you SHOULD win some games, looking at his records in the past with the #1 offense and failure coupled with his inability and constant mistakes and excuses I would say he is still very much learning problem is the learning curve is up IMO.

He needs to make it deep into the playoffs. He has done less with more then most coaches.

Tice supporters shouldn't take it personally. I can see why the media would say that. I can see why he is likable.

He should get a helluva pat on the back, but his name does not even belong in the same paragraph. And I am a Tice supporter.

Re: Tice for coach of the year

Tice will definitely be in the mix for it if we finish 10-6 or 11-5 with all the problems that this team faced and with the turnaround after losing his star QB. But if Dungy runs the table he will get it hands down.
Everyone is jumping on here and saying NO WAY right now, which is right, but in four weeks he really could have a legitimate shot.
Right now I think coach of the year voting would go something like this (by the way ... I know two people with votes and they both have the top 5 exactly the same right now)
    1. Tony Dungy
    2. Marvin Lewis
    3. Lovie Smith
    4. Jon Gruden
    5. Mike Shanahan
They also really like Mike Holmgren and Bill Belichik, and both said they have Tice around 8 or 9 right now, but would definitely see him climb if they "win out"
