Re: Is There Help Out There For Our Kicking Game?
yah i dont think there should be any question bout longwell's field goal kicking.
he's off to somewhat of a rough start but lets just thank god these games dont matter and he does what's hes done his whole career and make the big ones.
as for kickoffs i think we're stuck.
with some of the talent we have at certain positions i just can't see them cutting a good player to bring in a kickoff specialist.
only shot would be if they cut kluwe and brought in a guy that can punt and kickoff.
at least that's what i thinkLET THAT WHICH DOES NOT MATTER, TRULY SLIDE

We need one desperately, especially with our kick return coverage.
As it is with the return yardage we give up now, we might as well damn near try an onside kick or squib kick every time

Re: Is There Help Out There For Our Kicking Game?
thanks for clarification:
Longwell deffinitly needs to get the ball deeper at least to the one without line drives. And Marr your right even the best HOF tacklers cant do much with it traveling the way it is as of now
But i do think a kicker of some potential will come available come cutdown day to 55 players and rarely do teams keep two kickers

Regarding kickoff length, I just don't think we have the depth at WR, OL, DT, LB, or CB to sacrfice for an extra kicker.
By the way, what position does Loeffler play? Is his only talent long snapper or is he at a decent bakcup center. To me that is a ridiculous waste of a roster spot. The backup center, whoever he is, needs to practice long snapping 5 hours a day."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

That is what I am looking for is a guy who can do both (K/P or P/FG etc) so that we only have two on the roster.
From my original post.
How clutch is it to kick it into the endzone?I'm looking for a mix of a guy that can either K/P (Keeping Longwell for PAT/EP's) or a K that can do KO/PAT/EP's (Keeping Kluwe as P)?
Again, this is about lenght of kick and hang time on the kickoff not FG attemps.
As for Loeffler, I think the long snapper is such a specialized position now that the Backup Center would spend to much time working on long snapping and miss out on to much of the OL practice/reps.Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Although not in direct relation to this thread, it is a interesting read on Loeffler.
