Texans Game: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
+ Offensive Line Run Blocking Gets an 'A'
+ Mewelde Moore Came Up BIG
+ Kevin Williams played great (as did ALL of the front four)
+ Culpepper was outstanding again
+ Marcus Robinson, aside from the drop, played very well
+ Run defense was very good
+ Props to Bennett for some good punting
- Pass defense & underneath pass coverage by Linebackers NEEDS WORK
- Special Teams coverage NEEDS WORK
- Bad games for both Dorsey (he's getting a little better) & Rod Smith

Texans Game: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Good post Foreman, I agree with you mostly here. One thing though, the O-Line run blocking was kinda spotty. They started off well, but they struggled in the end of the game when we wanted to run out the clock. That time was crutial and better blocking could have allowed us to win in regulation.
Speaking on the negatives of pass defense...Every time there was a big pass play I saw one constant, that constant was #25 running about five feet behind the reciever desparately chasing after the guy he was supposed to be covering. I'm sorry, but Mr. Shaw is who is to blame for the poor coverage. Carr went to the guy he was defending on almost every play. Irvin, we are missing you man![img:2264cdc124]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/ultravikingfan/vikesklein.jpg[/img:2264cdc124]

Texans Game: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
-Special Teams
-Daunte
-tackling
-the rookie 4th string back carried the offense
-pass blocking
-did I say special teams
-where was Moss?
-first posession in OT was three dump passes to Moore
-28-7 in the second half
-why was Shaw covering Andre Johnson?
-PENALTIES
+we won
+Marcus Robinson had a good game
+Moore had a great game
I don't want to be too negative but that was not a good game for the Vikes. And, ladies and gentlemen, I also know that he cannot lead troops to victory in a war when he has made it perfectly clear that he does not support the cause. -Gen. Tommy Franks on John Kerry-

Texans Game: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
game thoughts....
where was the o-line pass protection for most of the 2nd half?
MM rocked....i'm amazed at our depth at running back. i don't know what we're going to do when we have all our backs healthy.....
agreed, culpepper was brilliant.
questionable coaching decisions on a few of those drives in the 3rd/4th quarter when momentum was in houstons favor. we played not to lose when we should of been playing for the win. we need to not be so damn conservative.
our defense will improve when we're at full strength. injuries still hampering us.
special teams are just atrocious most of the time. i hold my breathe everytime we kick off or punt. where was kelly? i thought we were going to use him.
david carr was very impressive and gutsy. he reminds me of a young farve (yuck)....he could be very dangerous in a year or two...and those houson receivers were simply catching everything.....i was cursing them quite a bit...
all in all, glad we one, but would of liked to see us win more convincingly...espeically after a 21-0 start. we should of put them away in the 3rd. but we were on the road and playing with tons of rookies....so i'm thankful for the win and ready to focus on the 'aints' next week.

Kleinsasser - Yeah, the O Line did run out of steam at the end and their protection in pass coverage was fairly weak throughout the game (although the Texans have a good, fast defense & linebackers)
And thank you for mentioning Shaw
i thought the sam as far as he was concerned
Why exactly was he playing corner again?
I thought Williams and Winfield were the starting CB's

Isn't Johnson their #1 reciever? Why wasn't Williams or Winfield on him? Some of Johnson's catches were despite good coverage. Carr just had the guts to make the throw. I thought our defenseive backs did a pretty decent job. They had pretty good coverage throughout the game but the Texans WR's just made some amazing plays on the ball

Another positive that I almost forgot was the run defense. Except that touchdown... But 52 yards rushing on the day is outstanding.
