This is one piece that can keep us out of the Show. Please remember: a tight end is not just some guy, he is often the check-down guy when it is 3rd down and everyone else is covered.

And as John Madden always says, the 3rd downs are what win games.
That goes for both sides of the ball. How often have we seen our opponents siting at 3rd & long only to watch them convert it for a first & 10?

    Too damn many.

I hope signing Allen solves that problem.

To be honest, I think you're making a big deal out of nothing. We are fine at the TE spot.

The Vikings’ TE situation remains an interesting study. As it stands now, Visanthe Shiancoe remains the starter despite a disappointing first season in Minnesota.

I agree. I think Shank will prove many on here wrong.

According to the Vikings official website, Shiancoe is listed as #2 behind Kimmy K.

    Re: TE still unaddressed

i think we will be fine at TE i mean Shank is more a combo style TE with decent blocking and catching ability yes those dropped TDs last year hurt but it happens. Hopefully not anymore.
Then there is Jimmy he is our Blocking TE considered one of the best Blockers in the Nfl but he can also catch if needed.
Then there is mills who looks to be a pure pass catching TE so you may see him in there on 3rd and long and other obvious passing downs.

just my take on our TE position.
