TE - Lack Of Pass Attempts (Big Deal or Not)

Is everyone making to big of a deal when it comes to how many passes Wiggins is getting/not getting compared to last year or are we missing the picture?
I took a look at our teams stats (91 Rush - 57 Pass) with Troy Williamson getting 14 receptions and Wiggins getting 8.
That is not that big of a difference.

Not so sure it isn't that they (Brad Childress) aren't/don't want to use the tight end but rather they have been, but the running is taking up more of the plays as numbers indicate.

Sure hope Wiggins gets a few more cracks at it though.

Re: TE - Lack Of Pass Attempts (Big Deal or Not)

The BIGGER problem is that they were pulling him out on third down (several times that I witnessed personally during the Chicago game)...how in the heck is he supposed to help us get first downs if he's not even in there...no disrespect to Kleinsasser!

On those plays, they were going with a 3-WR, single-back set, with the blocking TE in there (JimmyK) to help with the Bears rush.
Wiggins is a pass-catcher first, second and third - blocking is an after-thought.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

but wiggins is also 2nd best if not THE best WR the vikings have right now, use wiggins and kleinsasser on those plays together, wierd how fans can call the right plays but professional coaches downt seem to get it, LOL

But our WRs weren't getting open...we HAVE to be thinking that Brad needs a check down option...and Wiggy is THE MAN when it comes to that!

In the WCO, the check-down is the slot receiver.

And Brad wouldn't have a chance to get to the check-down if he's flat on his back.
No need to argue with me - previous posts by me in Wiggins threads decry the lack of passes in his direction.
I'm just explaining to you why JimmyK was in there instead of Wiggins.

Don't forget - JimmyK is a pretty darn good pass-catcher, as well.

Re: TE - Lack Of Pass Attempts (Big Deal or Not)

You also have to remember, because the offensive line and the great defences that we have played dictate that the TE has to stay-in and block more.
I think once the O line jel a little more, it will free up either Wiggy or Jimmy K more.
What we got here is a failure to communicate.

Whoever is open is open.....but two things I just think its odd with the WCO that we arent utilizing TE much, but whatever works.
Also I simply miss Wiggens hurdling over defenders making them look pitiful.
