all did bad passing in there first few games trying to get used to the feel for the game... yes he needs to work on his fumbles and i think this year he will do a lot better, he is one dedicated sob and i dont know about you but im impressed with his work and dedication to the team, thats the type of guy i want running the show
Apparentley they give the ROY to bad players.... Vince Young may not be a great PASSING QB, but what he does on a football field is amazing. He wins games you cant argue with that. He makes plays when he needs to and although hes not the most accurate quarterback he will be great.
he made plays with his feet and his defense should have been given more credit not him, he gets passes blocked at the line and has to roll out to throw, ROY only went to him bc his team got the W not him

This is exactly what I typed in one of the threads yesterday.
There are several factors as to why TJ supposedly "sucked" his two starts.
His first start was in GB in horrible weather.
The Vikings had a lot of penalties and some dropped passes as always.
His throws were pretty on most of the game.
    Wasn't his fault.

In STL he played with pretty much second and third string.
Even the starters played poorly because they were ready for the off season.
Can't blame the kid for that.
Think about the two times he came in.
    One was with the Bears.
He played well till he was hurt.
The other against the Jets where he almost made a huge comeback.

The media and so called "experts" need to act like experts and look at all the factors in the game.
I'm not saying make excuses but tell the whole story.
Not just go by the black and white statistics.
Maybe I was drunk ejmat, but I don't remember any huge comeback against the Jets.
    They beat us 26-13.
Please enlighten me on this huge comeback that I cannot remember.

    Like I said almost.
If you remember on two different drives he drove them down the field to where we almost scored.
Even though we didn't score he did a good job driving them down the field.
That's where I get the "almost".
Maybe it was I was drunk and was imagining this.
    ;D
But seriously, it wasn't that we scored the points and almost won it was more so we were down by I think it was 23-6 and he made the game interesting.
He only played a bit more than 1 qtr and was 14 for 23 for 177 yards passing.
    1 TD / 1 INT and 20 yards rushing.
His first drive I believe was a TD then he drove down the field again but threw an INT.
That could have made it 23 -20.
That is where I get almost.
    make better sense now?
    ;D

Young deserved all the credit he got. Saying his team got the win and not him is rubbish. He played on a horrible team last year and led the way to some amazing upsets. If his team was so good why were they 0-3 w/o him and 8-5 with him? That by the way includes a 1 point loss to the Colts, upsets over IND and JAX, and 6 straight wins.
Unlike Vick, Young is a running QB who gets the job done. However you believe the defense, last in the league in 2006, should be given more credit?

Your initial point was he struggled at first, but then turned into a great QB later. You should stick to that argument.

Only if you change the word "great" to "adequate".

The whole damn team quit against STL!
And screw those losses anyway...its part of how we ended up with All Day Adrian Peterson!!
I still say this year is more about how our OLINE plays and our Defense continuing to improve!
If those two things are good, the running game will be good, the young WRs will slowly improve as will TJack.

We are not talking about a Roethlisberger/Dilfer type of QB who just had to be good enough and let the rest of the team do the work. The Titans sucked talent wise last year. Mediocre WRs, a solid RB, but a miserable defense. With that in mind I consider 8-5 for a rookie QB as great.

Yes, thank you, it is coming back to me now.
We were driving and could have cut into the lead, but then the interception.

I look at his passing numbers:
    Year Team

G GS Att Comp Pct Yds
    YPA Lg
    TD Int
    Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate
    2006 Tennessee Titans 15 13 357 184 51.5 2199 6.16 53 12 13 25/129 33
    1
    66.7

...and consider them to be adequate.
He had some great runs as QB for the Titans last year, but when looking at the stats most relevant to performance as a QB (and elevation from mediocre to adequate to good to great) there's no way he's a great QB like Manning or Brady or Brees.

defense earns credit right there holding the colts to 14 points, also drew bennett is better than a mediocre receiver, and they were 0-3 because of kerry collins...

and to say he turned to a great qb later... lets look at his stats

    http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/424340

    hmm 12 td 13 ints a 51% comp percentage a 66.7 passer rating
im sure GREAT isnt the word you shoud be using
