Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, a second-round pick out of Division I-AA Alabama State last year, appeared in four games in 2006 and started the final two of the season.....

Re: Tarvaris' two starts
Sure wish when people talked about his two starts they would look at what really happened that might have affected the kids play.
If memory serves (I got really drunk before the Rams game so all of the game is a bit fuzzy) alot of young kids played in that game.
Wonder how that impacted TJ as well as the whole teams performance resulting a the ugly blow out?

As for the GB game, wasn't that a short week?
Additionally everyone leaves off the struggles from he other side of the ball because of the crappy weather.
Even the much heralded Brett Favreeeeeeeeee sucked that day as well.
(By the By, he always sucks in Marrdro's world even if he does good)
9 plays, 44 yds, 3:42
5 plays, 19 yds, 1:14
7 plays, 41 yds, 3:13

Re: Tarvaris' two starts
This is exactly what I typed in one of the threads yesterday.
There are several factors as to why TJ supposedly "sucked" his two starts.
His first start was in GB in horrible weather.
The Vikings had a lot of penalties and some dropped passes as always.
His throws were pretty on most of the game.
Wasn't his fault.
In STL he played with pretty much second and third string.
Even the starters played poorly because they were ready for the off season.
Can't blame the kid for that.
Think about the two times he came in.
One was with the Bears.
He played well till he was hurt.
The other against the Jets where he almost made a huge comeback.
The media and so called "experts" need to act like experts and look at all the factors in the game.
I'm not saying make excuses but tell the whole story.
Not just go by the black and white statistics.

Re: Tarvaris' two starts
Ohmmmmm... my god, training camp is about to start. Yahhooo ya. T-Jack will be a whole new guy this year... He will lead a vastily improved Offense.

Re: Tarvaris' two starts
This was one of the issues that was raised in these forums towards the end of last season when it was clear that Johnson was being a liability.
Some people were all in favour of throwing T-Jack in at the deep end of things and seeing if he would sink or swim, and there were others who preferred to let Bollinger play the season out.
In a way it was taken out of our hands when Bollinger was injured and so T-Jack was put in as starter. Unfortunately for him, due to poor play-calling, preparation and support from the team he ended up being labelled as sucking but certain elements within the media and even the fanbase.
Like it or not you have to forget his two starts last year and take on the fact that, at present, he has been named as the starter. If he shows in TC and preseason games that he's not up to the job then fine, people can start to call for Bollinger or any other FA QB who is out there.Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...
