Tarvaris Jackson still green under pressure

Jackson still green under pressure

Tarvaris Jackson said Friday that he gets more comfortable with each snap he takes during the Vikings' offseason program. However, it was clear at times during the team's three-day minicamp over the weekend that the second-year quarterback still has a ways to go before he is completely at home running the offense....

Tarvaris Jackson didn't exactly distance himself from Brooks Bollinger in the race to be the Vikings' starting quarterback.

Jackson struggled mightily Saturday during blitz drills, but he rebounded in the final practice of the three-day minicamp, Vikings coach Brad Childress said....

Sounds like jackson is learning but has a long way to go. Lucky for him the vikings are not interested in winning this year so he will likely get to start.

What makes you think they are not interested in winning? Just because they are in a rebuilding mode, doesn't mean they don't want to win.

Of course they want to win. Who doesn't?

No doubt they will try to win every game but they will let jackson be the starter even though they know that a more experienced qb would have a better shot at winning the game.

Silly comment.

Of course they want to win.

The fact that we now have a good RB tandem will give TJ the time he needs to get up to NFL speed.
He won't have to be passing all the time.
There is nothing like handing off the ball to give you a chance to settle in.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Sounds like Bollinger has been doing better in the offseason so far. Childress, if he's a man of his word, will start the QB he thinks will give us the best chance to win.

And I still think it will be Brooks, at least at the start of the season.
The plan will still be for TJ to take the reigns eventually, but there is no use pushing him out there before he is ready.

Plus both Wilf and Coach Childress have a lot riding on a winning season...

I don't think you'll find too many people who think he is the Messiah.

If your refering to last year, it was more that people wanted a change and figured we might as well give the young kid some playing time if he is the future of our team.
People were excited to see what the young gun had...and probably still are.
