If a fan questions the ability of a player it is NOT HATE.
We as fans have the right to put the team and all players under the scope.
That is what true fans do. They love the game and the team so much it consumes us.
We want ot talk about everything and get involved in the team in all aspects.
Hell that is why PPO is here.
I can't imagine a site that everyone bowed at the knees of the players and just said "I believe"
That has to be earned by the Coach's and the Players. Yes they play for themselves and their paychecks, but they play for us the fans too
So to question and debate their skills is all part of the BIG picture of sports and being a fan.
So lets stop the "Hate" label and talk about what we all love the most.
    Taters and the Minnesota Vikings!

Usually as someone plays the 'true fan' card it is my signal to stop listening because the odds of further crap being spewed is rather high...
    However...

There is a big difference between "questioning the ability of a player" and hating on them.
There are several people on this forum who will still think that TJ sucked even if he throws 50+ TDs, wins the Super Bowl MVP, discovers the cure for cancer, and shits enough rubies to finance a new stadium.
On the same note, there are people here who would still defend him if threw 100 INTs and went 0-16 next season.
It is ridiculous on both sides of the fence.

I am not sold either way on TJ.
He improved just enough last season to keep himself in the starter's spot, but did not improve enough to make me comfortable with it.
The problem is that there simply isn't any better option out there right now, so like it or not, TJack is our QB.
He is certainly better than some of the QBs out there, and the people who say that he isn't are choosing to ignore the facts.
But at this point he is mediocre at best.

I am hoping that with the talent we have elsewhere on the team, a mediocre QB is enough to get the job done.
It has worked for teams in the past, and Tampa even won a super bowl with it (OK, BJ was above average at the time, but the point is that he was not the key to their SB win).

i dont think hes mediocre yet..a mediocre qb wont do anything spectacular, but will still do more help than harm..more INTs than TDs is more harm than help

as far as not being sold on which direction the guy is gonna go, were in the same boat there
People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

Sounds like people are griping but don't offer a great alternative, because there is none.

i agree with ya there buddy

LOL! Nothing could be farther from the truth. For everyone of those, there's another QB that can prove it wrong.
When I said record was meaningless, people ripped me. Including one person that hasn't shown his face around here since he plagiarized someone else's work. Put Brady on teh Dolphins and he would have a horrible record, Put Cleo lemon on the Patriots and he would have a winning record.

A QBs record may be meaningless to some extent, but I have always said that the team felt more comfortable with Jackson back there taking snaps over any other QB we had. And because of that I think the whole team would have played better helping them get a win. You read any of the interviews that players did and they were all confident in Jackson.

So a QBs record can only be used to evaluate him to a certain extent. In some ways I think you can use it.

    Thanks Josdin00 for the sig!

Re: Tarvaris Jackson - QB Or Not QB

Ya know what? At least Jackson doesn't cock his arm back and have the ball squirt out of his itty-bitty china-doll hands every other play (ala Culpepper). It's interesting reading the pros and cons of Jackson on all these threads. The cool thing is (or not so cool, depending on your position) is that we get to watch Jackson make it or not this upcoming seaon. Debates are great. I'm just glad that the team has actual "paid" employees that decide who starts, or who does not. As it is now, Jackson is the QB. I think he will manage just fine. Especially with BB. Oh wait, thats another thrread, no, thats a Jackson thread, wait.. what?

Yes and those "paid" employees have gotten us how many Super Bowls over the years?
Don't play the "we're not working for the Vikings" card.
If that was the excepted opinion we'd just get rid of this site and all hide in our houses excepting the gospel of the purple tinted.

I for one will continue to question T-Jack like I have been the whole time, and if he even has above an 80 QB rating this year I'll be amazed and join the purple tinted bandwagon.
Until then he's just a third year QB that has proven exactly nothing in the NFL.

Gray would not come in here and learn the offense in year 1, and outplay Tarvaris.

I do think we need a backup, and Gray would be an option.

I'll play it all I want. I said debates were great. I said the debating the pros and cons was an interesting thing to do. Did not disagree with you qustionong t-jack. Im glad the team has real pros evaluating talent. That's what i said. Jackson is the starter. Hope he does good. ; I think he will. If not, those "paid" employees will get someone else. eventually. Sooner or later then some would like.
