    Supposed onterrio trade squashed

There was word that a very strong rumor, that looked to be true, was saying that miami and the vikes agreed on a big deal. It was on profootballcentral.com.

It has sinced been squashed by the league as 100% false, but here was the supposed deal anyways. It said we agreed to trade onterrio, nattiel, and shaun hill, for LB marlon greenwood, terrance wilkins, 2005 1st round pick, 2005 2nd, and 2005 4th.

I say thank god we didn't do something stupid like that! If we are gonna trade bennett or onterrio, we need to get a good player in return, like ogunleye, plus a 1st. They are the desperate ones, so they need to overpay us, if they want a RB.

yea if it was true, it wouldnt shock me any that would seem like a viking thing to do(stupid moves). it would be like missing out on all the good free agents this year which we did.
if they did do this and there keeping it down low for now that would be sick since i never even heard of those two players , only thing good would be the draft picks and that isnt worth trading smith
theres no MOSS in wyoming just sagebrush

The Vikings don't need to make anymore stupid Herschel Walker type deals. Unless the Vikes were on the winning end of the deal this time, and got two big name defensive players plus the draft picks from Miami.

i agree with cheesefree, unless the deal was blow-away, stand-pat and go into the season the way the roster is right now.

Plus it looks like the vikes are out of the running, I don't think the Fins are going to go after a big name back and try and get-by until the offseason.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Onterrio Smith is a future pro-bowl player. It would be dumb to trade him IMO. If the Vikes feel they need a little more on defense they have 7 million in cap room to buy it.

Who the heck are Marlon Greenwood and Terrance Wilkins? I must admit, the prospect of getting another #1 and #2 draft pick next season looks very intriguing, but in my view O. Smith played like a 1st rounder last season and Nattiel looked pretty good in my eyes as well. Whoever we get with the picks will be unproven. I'd rather keep a known quantity and our depth at RB unless the Dolphins are going to trade us a starting caliber player on defense.

Desperate or not, there is no way the Dolphins would trade Ogunleye AND a 1st round pick for either Bennett or Smith. That would just be insane. Overpaying is one thing, being stupid is another. Frankly, getting Ogunleye straight up (maybe some cash to help pay his signing bonus) would be about the best I could see the Dolphins doing.

Lets face it guys, if we could get a first, second, and 4th rounder for a fourth round selection in Onterrio, I would say that is a pretty amazing return on our investment.

Especially with some very good backs in next years draft (Carnell Williams, Cedric Benson)

Greenwood is an Outside linebacker, who was a 3rd round pick in the 2001 draft. In 2001, he played in 14 games, and had 58 tackles (39 solo). In 2002, he had similar numbers, even though he played in all 16 games. In 2003, he again played in all 16 games, and had 75 tackles (57 solo). He is currently listed as their starter on the left side on NFL.com, which looks like the weak-side according to their chart.

Terrance Wilkins is a WR and kick returner who has played 4 years for Indianapolis, and one year for St. Louis. His best years as a reciever were 1999-2000 when he averaged 42.5 receptions, 567 yards, and 3.5 TDs. His numbers went down in 2001. In 2002, he played for the Rams and was used almost exclusively as a return specialist. He then went back to the Colts for the 2003 season, but only played in 3 games, possibly due to injury, but that's just me guessing. He's currently listed as either Miami's 3rd or 4th WR on NFL.com. Their chart doesn't make it easy to tell. He's listed as second on the weak-side. I think that puts him at the 4th spot. Maybe someone else could clarify. I'll link to the depth chart below, so you all judge for yourself.
