Vikings will be a true test of Steelers' metal

    Pun intended!

But seriously, they have as much to lose as we do...their defense hasn't been the most stalwart lately...and their offense isn't lighting the world on fire. Yes, Bettis had a great game...but it was in his kind of weather...the kind of weather that won't be to his advantage in the Dome. If PWill is at full strength and we get KWill back this week, we can shut down the Steeler running game...and force Rottenburger to beat us in the air...which could be to our advantage. I think that Brad can move our offense against the Pittsburgh defense...and score enough points against them to give the Viking defense enough cushion to win the game for us...plus if the Viking defense can force a few turnovers from Rottenburger, they can seal the win for us!

Dear Fat-man Reusse, you old f*cking crumedgon.

The reason that we were booing Darren Bennett is because we had to watch him punt for almost 2 years! He was not any good then, and he is not any good now! His punts of 26yards, 31 yards and shanks every other one out of bounds, this is the norm! And we are sick of watching him doing this! Just because Tice brought him back because he did not want to take a chance on one of the other punters they tried out, does not give him a free pass. So do not try and make us feel bad for booing somebody that should have retired 5 years ago because he couldn't do it anymore! He should have told Tice that he couldn't punt when Tice called him, otherwise punt the damn ball better and people will not boo your old a$$!

Sorry, I had to vent because I hate both of them!

To me, the upcoming game vs. the Steelers comes down to one thing: stopping the "Bus" (Bettis) on the line of scrimmage. If we can do that, we can make the Steelers one-dimensional, and I personally don't think Roethlisberger can beat us, especially with an injured hand. Thus, it remains critical that we jam Bettis at the line of scrimmage. I see Pat Williams playing a big role here, plus of course the linebackers like Keith Newman and Cowart. We can't let the Bus have 100 yards like he did against the Bears.

What do you guys think about this ?
i honestly think we can hold bettis to under 50 yards He's not as good anymore as he used to be, he doesn't even practice untill thursday each week, and even then not for the whole time. We held Gado to i thnk 7 yards, (if you remember gado has had multiple 100+ yd games since then and over 100 the week before). look at the matchup of pwill and Bettis, i pick jerome. and we have the speed ends and olb's to catch up to willy parker if he goes outside. I think we can really win this one if our offense puts up half decent yards (200+ pass and 80+ rush)

The Steelers completely shut down the Bears.

The Vikings will have to make more plays on the offense. If Koren Robinson steps up and makes some big plays, the offense will follow.

I think the Vikings can win this game in the Dome.

As many are saying here, the key to this game is limiting the Steeler's run game. Besides the Vikings run defense, it will come down to the health of Bettis, Parker and Staley.

The Bears sure looked bad against the Steelers Sunday. It made me wonder if the middle tier AFC teams are that much better than the just-below-top NFC teams. Maybe the Bears just had a bad day.

Vegas has Pittsburgh as a 3 1/2 point favorite. I'm glad the line isn't higher than that.

    Go Vikings :blob:

Parker is averaging 4.3 yards per carry & the "Bus" is averaging 3.4. So Parker is clearly the one we have to key on more so than Bettis.

If we can shut down or minimize their run game, the Vikies can win this one & Bettis will go back to Pittsburgh with a new nickname - the "Short Bus".

Re: Steelers will be a true test of Vikings' mettle

What I am most worried about for this game is OUR running backs. The Steelers have always played mash mouth football and I think this is perfect for shutting our running game down. Bennett is more of a speed guy, and cannot bounce off takles to save his life. MeMo has the vision to do well agianst the Steelers but between Tice not getting him in the game and how injury prone he has been this year I am very nervous about this. I'm really hoping one of the running backs will step up next week!

I think Bennett might be perfect against Blitzburgh ... remember a few (I think four or five) years ago when he took a screen to the house against them? They overpursue the run and stuff the up the middle pounders, but a speed guy can catch them overpursuing and make them pay ... I think Bennett could be a big part of our gameplan this weekend ... this is one week where I think I might like Bennett over MeMo ... of course I might be wrong and I won't care if we get the W.
