Steelers fans better than Vikes fans?
From the Minneapolis Star/Tribune
Tice estimated 15,000 to 20,000 Steelers fans were at the game, curtailing the Metrodome's home-field advantage. If Tice's figures are accurate, that means at least 10,000 of the Vikings' season-ticket base sold their tickets.
"It confuses me, I guess," Tice said. "Maybe they're not really diehard season-ticket holders or maybe they needed the money for Christmas presents. I don't know. One of the two."
Asked if the situation impacted the game, Tice said: "Look, when you go to some stadiums, it's so deafening that you can't hear. When you have 15 to 20 thousand of the opponent's fans in there, it's not deafening. There is a difference. The fans that were there were great. But it wasn't like a big game when it's just your guys in there.
"Maybe, in their defense, they sold the tickets when ... we were 2-5. Maybe they said, 'The heck with it, I'm not going to that.' Maybe that's the case. Or maybe Pittsburgh fans are just a little more diehard than our fans are."Kentucky Vikes Fan

When you require nothing, you get nothing; when you expect nothing, you will find nothing; when you embrace nothing, all you will have is nothing.

I find it Ironic Tice is complaining about fans selling tickets. He is just pissed off that they didn't cut him in a percentage.

Re: Steelers fans better than Vikes fans?
I think Tice should keep his yapper closed in this situation, it does not bode well for him to alienate any of the fans! Especially when he himself sells tickets on the open market, and yes the way the team opened the season, who knew that this game would have meant so much?
The players should have been better prepared and executed better, I think that is more to blame then having Steelers fans in the building, IMO!
Cheers!

Re: Steelers fans better than Vikes fans?
If Tice needs the fans noise to help him win games, well, he better think about a new job somewhere else...
Granted, fan noise is a big plus for a home team, but the Coaches and Players, play the game on the field......Not the fans...
He's just pissed he lost, and so am I, but I won't put blame on the fans it's all to do with the players and coaches......PERIOD

Re: Steelers fans better than Vikes fans?
I am not defending tice at all and dont think he should be really saying anything...but it is different to purchase season tickets to a team you are supposed to want to see. As opposed to Tice that was given tickets to the last superbowl that he might not have wanted to go to or seen the particular teams play

Re: Steelers fans better than Vikes fans?
You guys are missing the point. Season ticket holders sold their tickets to Steelers fans. For a Viking home game. With playoff implications. I would be pissed off too, quit finding reasons to whine about Tice--the man has a valid point. The fans need to back their team!

Re: Steelers fans better than Vikes fans?
Our point is very much as valid. The man lacks integrity.
He did touch on the real problem in his statement. The problem that he wasn't putting a quality product on the field. His team runs rampant has scandal and was painful to watch. Of course he quickly masks that by talking about die hard fans.
It's up to Tice, Wilf, and the team to put asses in the seats.
You guys are trying to make it sound like these fans went seeking Steeler fans to sell the tickets too. Chances are Vikings fans would have gotten a shot at them as well if they wanted them. Not everyone makes millions of dollars. If you buy a seasons worth of tickets and your team sucks, your head coach makes nothing but excuses, and your embarrassed to be a fan, I'm sure you could use the spending money this time of year.
Who bought the tickets is arbitrary. The fact is people wanted a refund on their purchase. The Steeler fans wanted a ticket.
So on two fronts there is no room to talk. Is it morally wrong to sell your home seat to a rival? No more so then the scandals the team has brought to light this year. What do you have wife beatings, DUI's, sex parties, scalping...........
They have to earn a lot of people back. It's all on the team and the staff.
