Re: Stay or Go! An interesting comparison!

you must also remember we had the most injuries in the league besides arizona. we had the most different starters throughout the whole year besides them. just something to think about...
    We're bringing purple back.

wow that really puts it out there clearly. He HAS to GO! With all the talent on this team for years to only muster up one wildcard appereance is just sad. We need a new Head Coach, point blank.
Having the talent won't do any good unless you have the coaching staff to coach that talent. With an actual budget, he will have that opportunity. We made the playoffs last year on the strength of the offense. We made a playoff run this year on the strength of the defense. Our offense was crippled this year without Birk, Dante, Moss, Smith and Linehan and Burleson failing to produce (due to various injuries). Hope it all comes together next year.

With the talent we have on the roster right now, I am NOT willing to wait for another coach to go through the growing pains. I say sign Tice to a 2 year deal (so that he can execute on a long term plan), get the man an OC and find a DC who knows his team's strengths. My eyes tear when I think what a DC like George Leary or Jim Bates could do with our current defensive talent. Those are coaches who run defenses to the strengths of their players.
    Halo 4. Start another fight.

The only way that he goes is if someone WAY better comes along...I don't want to replace Tice with someone who got fired somewhere else because he was a LOSER! I do agree that Tice should get at least ONE year where he has alot more resources available to him (read: a budget to hire the amount and higher quality of coaches to field a properly prepared team each week). If Wilf decides to keep him, he should sign him to a two-year contract, but keep him on a short leash (i.e., if he sucks next year, then he has no excuses, so Wilf can can him but only lose out on paying him for the one extra year). This will allow Tice to hire coaches that won't be worried that they will be gone after one year. Tice may still surprise us once he has time to focus on being a Head Coach instead of having to put out fires on all fronts...for all our sakes, I certainly hope so if he stays!
I don't think there is a better canidate out there for Tice's job, so I see him staying. Better yet, let's fire Tice and get someone like Jerry Glanville.. he could utter those famous words again..this is the nfl! which stands for not for long when you make calls like that when it seems like we're getting penalized an awful lot.

I like Tice and I say keep him. I think that he is finally being given some tools (advisors and stuff) and he showed that he can get players to perform. All this underperformance talk is a little silly. In 2003 and 2004 very few "experts" and analysts picked us to go to the playoffs or compete for division titles and we did both ... until this season Tice had been given three teams EXCESSIVELY below the salary cap ... all in all ... he has done a fairly good job and there will not be anything better available ... Billick is locked up ... Fisher will stay in Tenn. ... Edwards will stay in N.Y. ... that leaves us a shot at Martz or an unproven coordinator or college coach who would also be learning on the job.
Keep Tice ... give him his running back ... bring back C-Pep ... keep the defense intact and watch this team flourish.

Re: Stay or Go! An interesting comparison!

In reading all this I have to say that I don't think some of you are thinking it through clearly. If we get new OC and DC how is that different than replacing Tice in terms of new guys coming in and having to wait a year for the coaching to gel? If you are going to do that then why not get a new head coach and let him bring in a staff that fits his style? Also how many good OC's and DC's want to come in and work under Tice? I haven't heard lots of people say they would love to go to MN and learn under Tice because he is such a genius. Tice is a nice guy coach that really should be coaching college ball. He has been here for 4 yrs and in that time has a lousy record. How can Wilf possibly show him the money based on his record? You are going to give him 3 million a year? For what? A .500 record over 4 years. Better coach's have been fired for a lot less. What I hear people saying in here is that if we just hire a bunch of new guys that will take over the responsibility from Tice for game planing and game management we will be a better team. In other words make him a hood ornament and we will be a hell of a race car. If you can't beat the 5-9 Ravens when the season is on the line, and you have blown similar games in the past 4 years............. your done as an NFL coach. At least that's how it is on most teams.

    Tice MUST go !

A few weeks ago I thought otherwise. Look back at 3 years of LOSING important games in December !

LOSING credibility with "Ticket Gate", and then "Boat Party".

Replacements COULD include such as Pete Carroll, or Jim Fassell.

why is making an NFL record on scoring TD's on returns in the "go" section? isnt that a good thing?

I'd rather keep the coaching staff and make improvements.... and get rid of the entire front office.
