Time to get the offense jump started...split MeMo out wide...put Jason Carter in...throw more passes to Wiggy...and bench anyone who drops easy passes!!!

We are 4-4.
We are on a losing streak and we can not score in the redzone.
We have no mobility at QB.
Yes we should start T.J.

Start him now, while we still are capable of making the playoffs.
This team neads to rebuild, and we need a playmaker a qb.

Putting Memo in as a WR would help out a lot.
He has to have better hands than the WR on our team.

After I read this, I saw your sig.

It makes much more sense now.

A 4-4 team is not in rebuild mode.

The time to jump start our offense was two weeks ago. I just want a win baby.

That must be why he doesn't have a sig now.

Re: Start Tarvaris? No, start THINKING.

As Davike knows, i'm against starting T Jack
i love him because he is our future Qb, and i love his playing, he will NOT help us any more then BJ does.T jack isn't gonne make the line block and the receivers catch, so what the hell is the diffrence? also i think it's best if T jack doesn't even start next year, so that he can learn even more. in 2 years he'll be ready, just not now

Rookie trusts that gradual development is best plan

BY DON SEEHOLZER
Pioneer Press

Vince Young has been starting since Week 4 in Tennessee, as has Matt Leinart in Arizona, but Tarvaris Jackson insists he isn't jealous.

The Vikings' rookie quarterback knows his situation is different and that this is strictly a learning season for him, even if some of the fans he thrilled during the exhibition season would like to see him in the starting lineup.

"I don't really pay attention to it," Jackson said. "It was preseason. I was going against the second and third guys. It's a different game in the regular season."

From the start, the Vikings' plan has been to take things slowly with Jackson, a Division I-AA project from Alabama State, and the struggles of their offense haven't altered that thinking.

Coach Brad Childress said Jackson has made good progress but doesn't see him moving out of his No. 3 role behind starter Brad Johnson and backup Brooks Bollinger this season.

Jackson said he's OK with that.

"I really don't know what's the right way to do it," he said. "I'm just going to trust coach Childress and go with the flow. I'm in a situation where I can learn from a Super Bowl quarterback and a coaching staff that's very good at getting quarterbacks ready to play."

Outside the Vikings' facility, there is no bigger Jackson fan than Doug Williams, the former Grambling coach and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins quarterback.

Now a personnel executive with the Bucs, Williams said the Vikings are taking the right approach with Jackson.

"I can understand the fans and the media excitement as far as Tarvaris," Williams said. "He's going to be an NFL starter; no doubt about it. The thing about it is there are some mental aspects to the game that he's probably still lacking that they would like him to take his time to pick up."

Williams' Bucs have been forced to start rookie Bruce Gradkowski at quarterback since Chris Simms suffered a ruptured spleen in Week 3 against Carolina, but that obviously wasn't by choice, and the Titans and Cardinals have been playing for the future since their seasons tanked early.

"I think it's different with Tarvaris," Williams said. "The Vikings are still in the playoff hunt. If they fall out of the playoff hunt, then you might think about getting him some on-the-job training."

Williams started as a rookie in 1978 with the Bucs, but he's quick to point out that he joined a team that had won just two games in its two-year history.

Jackson's situation obviously is different.

"He had a good preseason, but we've all got to understand, too, who does not like the backup?" Williams said. "Everybody likes the backup. Shoot, they probably like the backup in Indianapolis and New England."

Jackson hasn't been around long, but even he knows that.

"The backup quarterback is always one of the most popular guys on the team," he said. "As soon as I get in there and throw one interception or one bad throw, they might say to get Tarvaris out of there. I know how that works, so I don't pay any attention to it."

Tarvaris sounds like a smart kid.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.
