Just heard on KFAN that the bill will be killed now that they added Racino in for the funding.
Not good news.
An article on the Racino amendment.
Senate committee's surprise move adds racino, endangering Vikes stadium bill | MinnPost
They won't KILL the bill because of Racino.. but if Racino doesn't get the votes then they'll amend it, yet again.
Too bad these morons in the legislature can't just look at the popular vote on racino and realize, 'oh hey, it's what the PEOPLE WHOM I REPRESENT want!'
Its too bad they have to load up the stadium bill with other agendas. Oh well, six days and counting till the end of this session.
Someone posted a comment on that story:
"If the Vikings stadium bill goes down because of the Racino Amendment then our legislators should be called on for an accounting. 80% of Minnesotans are in favor of Racino. The only real opposition to Racino comes from the Indian Gaming lobby. They don't like the idea of losing their monopoly and having to play on a level playing field in terms of regulation. Our legislators are trying to support a special interest group whose biggest monetary contributions to the government have been to influence the two parties and their members. It's time for the legislators to stop the dirty politics and vote the way their constituents mandate."
To me, that says it all right there...

Stadium bill maneuvering offers a refresher course in legislative politics | MinnPost
Called the Capitol Building today. No Taxes Committee meeting scheduled for today. Hopefully it gets looked at tomorrow or by the latest Monday. I really don't think the Racino is a deal-breaker. Or at least it SHOULDN'T be a deal-breaker. Makes sense to want to affix other funding mechanisms to it that are going to generate a lot more money for both the state and funding for the stadium.
Let's see, that's the Minneapolis Vikings, right?
