Exactly he won't be trading him because nobody is offering him anything...

I think Zimmer wants a full work out with him before they consider it.

    Hopefully.

Why would you trade him. Wouldn't make any sense. Would only leave 1 QB on the roster. Then what have a rookie or 2 on roster if Cassel goes down. I don't believe any of the QBs in this draft are ready to play in NFL yet. Granted Ponder hasn't shown he can be a good QB in this league as well. I alsio think Norv could make him look at least decent. Look what he did last year in Cle with Hoyer, Campbell, Weeden

Yeah I agree...wouldn't make sense at all. Ponder is a decent backup and people need to get over the fact that he was over drafted and failed as the franchise guy. He doesn't have to go. Chances are pretty good that we will need a #2 at some point in the season, and most seem to agree that whoever is drafted should sit early. So why put a rookie in a situation to play when he's not ready? Ponder has won games before.

Tha 49ers acquired QB Blaine Gabbert from the Jaguars for a sixth-round pick, i knw we could get a trade for him and he did show more than gabbert and i rather have two rookies QB's backing up cassel than ponder

If we could get a third round pick, I agree. Anything less, I don't.

I say we just down right cut him, because no one will trade for him at all.

Really? In this draft a fourth round pick would definitely be worth biting on. Hell ... I would easily take a first half of the fifth round too. I do think he has some value as the backup, but if we pull the trigger on a QB at No. 8 or No. 40, then that guy needs to be our backup right now ... and I would gladly let Ponder go for some depth elsewhere.

He definitely looked better than Gabbert who stole a sixth rounder ... so I think a fourth or fifth rounder is definitely possible, but a third rounder (especially in this draft) would be a fleecing.
