Zygi decides to respond to fan and media pressure by essentially doing nothing.
Where is the great track record that vaulted Spielman to the GM position?
It seems one requires NFL experience but not NFL success to be hired the Wilfs.
I hope this isn't a recipe for eternal mediocracy.
Somehow I have even less hope for this team's future today than yesterday.

soooo... I DO KNOW.. he failed to draft OL for years... traded up in the second round for a back up RB... failed to identify a QB in Miami, Detroit, and Chicago... Drafted secondary we have here.. gave a ridiculous contract to Madieu Williams, Benard Berrian, and Chad Greenway.. so we have no cap space.. signed Sullivan way to early... haven't addressed LB needs for quite a while (5th round up doesn't count)... etc. I could go on... I agree someone needs be held accountable.. but I think we shoulda cleaned house right now... not next year or 3 years from now... If Frazier was his pick, then that is even more reason to CAN THEM ALL!!...

Martz leaving the Bears and the Vikings promoting Spielman doesn't fill me with the hope I was looking for but we could have some consistency next year in the nfc north.......just not looking forward being at the bottom looking up or drafting in the top 5

I don't hate this move as much as others.
At least it is a clear cut guy at the top of the food chain now. I hope that Speilman proves us all wrong and is truly able to mold the team the right way and get us moving in the right direction.
It is really this simple. In two years we will all either love Speilman or we will hate him. I think the odds are unfortunately closer to the second one ... but I will still hope he proves me wrong.

This is the nail in the coffin. Sorry boys, our owners are clueless... I've got no faith in a successful season for the next 4-5 years.
Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

We're doomed. What little excitement I had for the draft is now just a wisp in the wind. I thought the Wilf's were smart. Apparently not. What is their problem with not interviewing all prospective candidates for a fricken job? WTH?
It doesn't work that way in the real world. Why does it seem to work that way for this team? "Oh, well we don't need to look elsewhere, we got our guy right here Zygi..." 'ok great'
Players on the team are expected to compete and may the best player win. Apparently it doesn't work that way with the vikings. Mediocrity is not only tolerated it's our motto.
I bet you could use a cool one huh Clark...Now you're talkin Eddie...

I don't know whether to kick my own ass or someone else's. lol I was thinking that this would be the telltale year for Spielman and group. This came as a surprise. But what the hell. Let's see where this goes. The drafts lately seem to be hit and miss and we have not found many hidden gems in later rounds like other teams so my confidence has been waning. The Vikes should hit homeruns with our first two picks and I expect no less. We really need some players that can contribute at key positions immediately.
The Rams seem to have an upper hand this draft assuming that the Colts will draft Luck. The Vikes could be a key player, but the RGIII sweepstakes will commence in earnst during and after the combine up until the Rams are on the clock. If there is a ballyhoo there it will open up the door for the Vikes to go with Blackmon with the 3rd pick. The more I watch that kid, the more my mind is made up. We need Khalil as bad as we do Blackmon, but impact wise? This will be a nice dilemma to be in. Good Luck RIck Spielman, make Ohio proud!!!!

I agree...one person in charge is the right move. Whether Speilman is the right guy, we shall soon find out. Remember, Childress pulled alot of triggers, many hated him for that on PP.O relentlessly. Yes, Speilman was one of the decision makers, but, he was a "contributor to the consensus model," previously endorsed and preferred by the Wilfs.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

As a matter of fact, I do know

I figured if Wilf did anything this is what he would do.
Basically this move means that the Jersey boys are not changing anything but they think they can pull the wool over our eyes with a slight of hand. If you think anything is going to change just because his title changed you are dreaming. Wilfs will still be running the same triad of trial and error they have been running since he bought the team.
We have officially become the new Detroit Lions of the NFC Norris Division and I guess Spielman is the new Matt Millen.
Yippee.

FireSpielman.com will be up and running in less than a week! Probably 2-3 days. Here is a preview for all of my PP.O brothers.
