Spencer Johnson's INT
Does anyone know if he was credited with an INT?
I think it was officially a fumble, because it looked like he did drop it and pick it back up.
I noticed on NFL.com and in my yahoo fantasy league that there were only 2 recorded INTs against the 49ers.
Anyone know?

Re: Spencer Johnson's INT
It was ruled a fumble because the QBs arm were not moving forward when the ball were knocked loose. Hence it became a fumble.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Re: Spencer Johnson's INT
I think it is still a record for the 2 DTs to have an INT in the same game.
As far as Johnsons INT, I didn't see the replay but to me, Hill's arm was going forward.
He wasn't hit at all therefore it is physically impossible for a ball to move forward while the arm was still going backward.
Makes no sense.
I don't believe the ball was dropped.
Most likely, if the ball hit the ground it would have gone as an incompleted pass.
I'm not sure what statistician said it was a fumble but I guess I would have to see it again.
Again, I don't think Hills arm was touched.
If that is the case there's no way his arm was still motioning backwards if the ball went in front of him.
Okay I watched the video.
I did notice that Grigsby hit Hill's arm as he was throwing.
I couldn't tell if his arm was going forard or not therefore I now understand the reversal.
I was thinking of Pat Williams' INT when the ball just came out of Hills' hand.
Sorry for the mix up.

Re: Spencer Johnson's INT
Yeah it still was a record, it's just that we almost broke our own record in the next drive with Johnson.

Re: Spencer Johnson's INT
Personally I think it should have been an interception.
But it is tough to say whether or not his arm was moving forward yet or not.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

Re: Spencer Johnson's INT
There was an article posted here that talks about that here in the post game discussion thread.

Also, I still think the ball hit the ground.
he did not have posession of it, then he fell hard to the ground and it looked like he was fishing around for it just a little.
He very well could have had it though, I can not find a good angle for it.

Re: Spencer Johnson's INT
either way it was awesome, right after they put up the statistic on the bottom of the screen saying "First time in NFL history two DT's on the same team record an INT" then Johnson gets that FF/INT, what timing.
