Something I have noticed about Mckinnie
Have any of you guys noticed that on every pass play that we do, Mckinnie is out of his 3 point stance and he is standing up? I noticed that a few games ago and if I can figure it out that when he is standing we are passing, other teams should be able to also. So thats not good.
Anyone notice this?

Re: Something I have noticed about Mckinnie
Its because he is so big. If he is down, then it takes longer for him to get in his pass blocking stance.

Re: Something I have noticed about Mckinnie
I think its because he burned a few times against the Packers on Monday night probably a suggestion by the coaching staff. I think he only does it in obvious passing situations. In non-obvious situations, its not uncommon to see his guy getting chipped with WR, TE, Jimmy, and or RB.

That's definately not a good thing if he's giving away what type of play we're running.
The best part of my day is when I get down on my knees, with my head in my hands, and thank GOD for everything he has given me.

It's not a good thing if he's giving away what play we're running....but you can always run out of the same set. Draws might actually be MORE effective this way, and it's not like he CAN'T run block out of that stance either. I dont' see it as that big of a problem.

Re: Something I have noticed about Mckinnie
I played football at Canarsie high from 90-93 in Brooklyn, NY. I can tell you this..in a stance like that usually the coach will have them stand like that even during run situations when it can "decoy" a defense...but also use it in passing...and actually he's been more impressive in that stance then any other...but that me a qb talking about it. He might and could do it all the time as long as the coach makes sure hes getting off thre ball. He is very big for his size so that stance also and will help...hope to talk soon...read my blog lol c ya

Re: Something I have noticed about Mckinnie
Most big linemen come out of a 2 point stance when facing a speed rusher.
Pace did it against Freeney, I'm sure Ogden did also.
He does it to make up for his only disadvantage, his speed. He can also run block from this position. What the two point stance basically does, is take away your first step when firing out of your stance. You start with your lead foot(right foot) out in front of your body so you are already in a better leverage position, and then depending on the play, pass or run, you either drop for pass pro, or attack for the run block.
The only disadvantage of the two point is if the d-lineman you are against is bullrushing from a 3 or 4 point, and then they have a lot of leverage on you and they might put you on your back. But I don't think we have to worry about that with 6'8 340 pound Bryant McKinnie
