    So...Who Gets the Starting Job?

    Rewind three months.
Brett Favre isn't even on the Vikings' radar.
The attention-craving, flip-flopping, me-me-me quarterback has yet to seriously entertain talk of playing for the Vikes.
Instead, it's T-Jack vs. Rosenfels for the starting job, a showdown that doesn't have a clear favorite and will occur months down the road in training camp.

Well, we're back to that point.
Still don't know who the 2009 starter is, still waiting to see how Tarvaris and Sage perform in Mankato -- but now, we're only days away from the start of the quarterback competition.
Let's break it down after the jump...

Guys if you're going to vote at leastsay why!

Tjack will start. I diodn't see anything in Sage that tells me he is better in any depaertment than Jackson. I also think Chilly has bridges to mend and he is still his "project"

I only saw a glimpse of Booty buy he looked like a rabbit in the headlights

I still think it's TJ's job to lose... he's got the experience in the system, at least some teammates will have his back, and frankly I think he practices better then he plays.
From what I've seen of him, where he really struggles is in the clutch... I'm not sure how well you can simulate that in TC.
The true measure of a man is what he'd do knowing he'd never be found out.

I think that Sage will win the job. If the coaching staff were that convinced about TJ then Sage wouldn't have been brought in to challenge for the job.
At the moment TJ is more of a known quantity in terms of last seasons performance whereas Rosenfels may bring that little extra to the offense ... course all depends on how much of a leash Chilly/Bevell allow the QB (based on past seasons) but thats a discussion for another thread.

For the moment I'd say Sage was slightly ahead but TC may change that completely - we shall see

Now that I think about it, I actually think Sage would be a good option to start the season.

Reason is, people know waht TJ will do.
unless he's made huge strides, i'll expect about
the same performance out of the gate as last season.

Rosenfels however has the element of surprise.
he may not play better, but teams don't know what to expect from him.
They have tape of him in a whole other system, they don't know if they can sell out against the run yet or not.
I expect around week 5 they'll figure him out and shut him down, but IMO, our best option is start Sage weeks 1-5, then throw in TJ from there.
Or maybe a 2 QB system.
Would take lots of work, but I"m curious if it could ever work.

Re: So...Who Gets the Starting Job?

    Hows this for logic.

I voted for TJ but believe in the end, Sage starts the season.
TJ will ride the pine and stay ready for when Sage gets hurt or falters.

As to the comment about mending fences........

Lets not forget guys that both Sage and TJ have been in this circumstance thier whole careers.
Both have, IMHO, handled each and every situation with class.
I see no issue coming from this other than the fallout from a bunch of fans who will buy into the drivel as the media tries to spin it to sell papers.

I am guessing Jackson somehow wins the starting spot. (just barely).
He will struggle and the Sage will come in.

Re: So...Who Gets the Starting Job?

I think it will be Sage, and that it should be Sage.
If Sage had ever been put int he right type of offense he could have been starter quality.
You take Houston for example, the games there were won or lost based on how much the QB could do.
    That isnt the case here.
He just needs to make the routine throws asked of him and not make costly mistakes.
Mistakes are going to come everyone makes mistakes its the QBs who dont make costly ones that dont hurt their team.
So if he does that and AD continues to do what he does then i think he can be a decent starter for us.

Re: So...Who Gets the Starting Job?

I say Jackson wins the job and keeps the job.

Simply put, I just like what I saw last season from T-Jack.

Yes, he sucked against the Eagles, I saw the game too. But so did all those other QB's during the 7 or 8 week stretch and Jackson was right in the middle of it. Call it more excuses for Jackson but it's also fact. I don't like all the picks Sage throws and quite frankly think he'd be the one to lose the job mid-season if he wins it. I just don't think he'll be able to bail himself out of the mistakes. Jackson is progressing, 8 year vet Sage Rosenfels is still Sage Rosenfels.

If I'm wrong though, I'm wrong. As close as I was to having to support the hated LNAD out on the field, I can support anyone now
