Thread: so what do they do for 4 games

Go out and pick up KGB or even Darrion Scott if chilly is able to get over his legal troubles.
Then move into a 3-4 since we have plenty of LB who can pick up the slack.
This season is far from over and I think JA is going to carry this D right into the playoffs.
Or bring up Erin Henderson and lets see what the kid can do.

Are we able to sign another player? Does that put us over the 53 man roster? How does that work?

Time for the offense to step up too. we are moving the chains easier lately,and I don´t see why we couldn´t keep doing it against soft def.like Lions,Cards or Falcons. Join the Gus Bus.

We can always send players down to practice squad and bring up or bring in someone else if need be.
Maybe send down Marcus Johnson, Jeff Dugan, David Herron or someone similar.

If you do go out and sign KGB.. be prepared to shift the backers over that side of the line of scrimmage though.. because he has become a turnstile in the running game at this point.

It would be nice if it were that simple. Jared Allen is to small to play in a 3-4 style defense. Honestly the only two defensive lineman we've had in the past fifteen years that could run as a nose tackle in that system are Phat Pat and Jerry Ball. John Randle would have been about the ideal size of a DE in a 3-4 system. By changing the system you realize that Greenway and Leber being our outside linebackers now become DE's with pass responsibilities right?

We would literally have to change our whole system, and defensive front 7 roster. It simply isn't plausible to make the conversion in one season let alone one week

I realize that but Guion is pretty big and can clog it up a bit.
Also Greenway and Leber especially have played relatively well in pass coverage with exception to that hester TD last week on Greenways part, but griffin should have took him.
Im just putting options that we could run out there.
We may not stick with it all the time but we could run that out there in different circumstances.
Its not all about size either...JA is a BEAST.

In the 3-4 it really is. Virtually every play your looking at a double team on every down lineman. Edwards can't be most tackles on pass plays, how is he going to be a double team? Allen is only 270 relatively small for a defensive lineman. He wouldn't be able to eat a tackle and guard double team every play. Especially not with the condition of his shoulder.

My understanding is that the suspended players do not take up roster spots....so the Vikes could bring in two guys to the active roster and not send anyone down.
