I'd say Smoot, you can't always have what you want brother. You can't always buy people off. Pick a new number son, this is my number. If it's a big deal to you, you should have went to a team that had it available.

Now get your jiggly butt back in camp Chavous! Or Smoot isn't going to need to drop 10G for your number because it will be available.

It sounds like you have more of a problem with smoot trying to buy #21, than chavous holding out. :grin:

I don't see anything wrong with guys buying #'s, but smoot probably isn't gonna have to buy it and if I was chavous I would say yes while he still can. Some more good showings from offord and chavous isn't gonna be around IMO.

I don't really think what number he has is gonna affect his play. He may just like it better, buying numbers off of guys is pretty commonplace. I doubt he'll be out there opening day going "man, I really wish I was wearing number 21 right now" while Michael Clayton is running at him.

Trade Chavous and B-will for Darius, then Smoot will have his number.

Besides, Chavous wants more money. If I wanted more money and someone offered 10 G's for a number, hell yeah I would hand it over!

(Even though 10 G's is chump change to Smoot and Chavous).

Actually I would be very very surprised if Darius is on any team besides the Jags this season. From what I have read the Jags are intent on holding on to him at least this season.

I have to agree with vikingstw, on Smoot it seems he's all me, me, me. And if he is like that and I was Chavous I wouldn't let him have it just out of spite. He hasn't earned shit. Especially not with the Vikings. Then again if i was Chavous I would be in camp.

As far as being more upset about Smoot asking for a number then Chavous holding out....I am reserving my opinion on Chavous until I get a little bit more info. All the info out there is very vague.

I think Smoot should have No. 21, this number is usually designaed to the top corner on a team, kind of like the No. 1 going to the top reciever in college. Even though he may not be the top guy for the vikes, this will be more clear after the season starts, I think if you don't report to camp your number is up for grabs.....
