Re: Smoot 'hated' his time in Minnesota

Smoot has always been a me-first talker and it is a shame because his raw talent is undeniable .. but his work ethic and on-field laziness makes him a drag for any team.

Yeah, you make good points.
The guy is demonstrating a complete lack of class.
I mean, you come in as a free agent, sign a big contract, don' t play particularly well, and then get in trouble off the field.
What, that's supposed to be a good time?

But if the guy has emotional issues, then the guy has issues.
Let's give him a break.
I'm still of the opinion that what he did on the field was play a game, and the worst things he did here were off the field.
And I'm still not sure how 'bad' those really were (in the sense that we don't know what he did, what was consentual, etc.).
I hope he turns around in Washington, plays well, feels better, lives cleaner, and thinks clearer.
Just as long as they don't beat the Vikes.
not for nothing overlord, but i have a hard time feeling sympathy and wishing someone well when he got a huge signing bonus, plus his contract, talked about how happy he was to be in minnesota, stinks, and then blames the city basically for everything he did wrong(on and off the field).

i didn't care less about the boat thing, but i cared about his poor play and the fact he got beat more than he ever made a play.

i'm not even a native, i've been there once so it's not like he's talking smack about my city or something.
it's just lame.
what has childress been saying since he's got here, "personal responsibility."
well maybe thats more of the reason why he's gone, cuz he obviously displays none of that.

My only problem with Smoot was that he was overpaid.

i was unhappy so i played poorly.
so when steve smith and chad johnson were making him like like a pee wee football player its cuz he was depressed cuz he didn't like the people in minnesota.

maybe it was more like getting smoked for 50 yard tds and inevitably getting benched 2 years in a row that made him depressed.
if he's so happy now why is he in the same position on the depth chart in washington that he was with us.

i also loved how he claims he asked to be let go, like he wasn't going to be an eventual cut anyway.
like the vikes were begging and pleading with him to stay but they set him free so he could be happy.

what a prick.
I've seen Winfield get smoked for long TD's, yet that is never brought up here. Cotrell blew that game. One, he handcuffed our CB's, later attested too by Winfield & he never adjusted the coverage or game plan to get Smoot help on that side.

Also you have no idea that Smoot didn't ask to be let go. All indications are he did & the Vikings are not saying anything to the contrary.

I believe he did not fit the scheme here & the scheme wasn't adjusted to fit the players in the system. That is also evident by what is being said & printed about Smoot's play in Washington. It sounds like he is going to have a good year.

singer, is he 3rd on the depth chart in washtington or not?
was he 3rd on our depth chart by seasons end 2 years in a row?
was he paid to create one of the best cb tandems in the league?
did he not live up to the money spent on him?
would the vikings have paid him the money he was owed to be a nickle or possibly dime back considering the way mccauley has looked?
did he not blame the city and the people for his unhappiness instead of taking any responsibility for signing the contract and playing poorly?
where's the argument?

if you are gonna seriously compare winfields play to smoots then go ahead.
there is nothing you can say that will convince me smoot played better than he did, cuz i watched the games and there were many of them where he sucked not just 2.
not to mention the fact that 2 different coaching staffs ended up demoting him.
so what exactly is your point?

Smoot is gone, and he isn't even going to start for the deadskins. He can't cover anymore, just wish somebody would cover his mouth.

GOD I fucking hate it when people twist my words!

You love to do it, you did the same thing with Caine.

Where did I say Smoot was better than Winfield?.............. I'm waiting, where?

I said I've seen Winfield get beat also. He was burned last year for a long TD as one example.

If Smoot was 3rd on the depth chart last year, who was between him & Cedric?

Who was ahead of him in 2006? Was it when he was injured?

No he didn't live up to the money he was paid. Few CB's in the league would. I've stated that he was over paid, many many times including a post or two above the post were talking about.

Stating "would the vikings have paid him the money he was owed to be a nickle or possibly dime back considering the way mccauley has looked?" is an moot point. Smoot was gone long before preseason even began.
