    Re: Smith vs. Thomas

I always thought that the big plus about Smith was his speed. I dont think he is slower then Thomas by much at all, just that he gets hurt all the time.

Most GOOD players do play well their rookie season and then excel in the future, DT showed no signs of being GOOD ...
I do think he has the tools though and can recover, but I think Smith is the guy right now if he stays healthy ...

I like Raonall. That's obviously the weakest LB position wtih Harris and Cowart at the other two. But Raonall is more disciplined (which was our problem last year) than Thomas. Even though he's not as athletic, I think he's a better fit.

    Re: Smith vs. Thomas

DT had a very solid begining of last year. He had a few games that really stick out. Week 3 Bears game he lead the team in tackles and had 1 Forced Fumble.

The next game against the Texans he lead the team in tackles again. There are a few games where he did well enough. But as the season went on I think he began to fatigue, probably mentally as well as physically. I don't care who starts between the two. I think this year they will both be better. Smith is practically a rook lol. He has missed ALOT of time.

I remember last year Tice implying if he didn't get his shit together he would be off the team, I think he was definately playing for his job.

I like em both, I have a feeling DT will win out eventually, he has shown signs of greatness at times. But no one really remembers the first half of the season. When we needed him most he was exhausted. I don't think it will be as bad this year.

Oh and remember he was playing behind Udeze. And Tice openly admitted that Udeze was making a lot of mental mistakes. That doesn't help.

But again I would be satisfied with either guy, I am happy we even have the option it shows some depth.
