The sky is falling!
Wow.
I can understand being disappointed by our team's performance, but some of you guys really amaze me.
With a few exceptions, everyone seems to be going off on a major rant tonight. Peterson can't block, he's horrible. TJack (still) can't make a single good decision. The OL might as well have been asleep out there, they all suck except maybe Hutch. Nobody except Cook can play in the defensive backfield. Receivers can't catch anything. Oh, Gerhart maybe looks a little better but still mediocre.
For God's sake, it is preseason game 2. The way some of you are bitching, we might as well throw in the towel right now.
Come on, have a little faith. This is OUR team. We are VIKINGS fans, let's act like it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you have no right to complain. Of course you do. But you could try to be a bit less vituperative.
I haven't been able to actually watch the game yet, but I'll say this much. As far as I am concerned, it means nothing. Preseason... the old adage about believing only half of what you see and none of what you hear is even more true right now.
I was not at all surprised to hear about Favre's performance, or lack thereof. He's been back for all of four days. Nobody, and I mean nobody, gets in full swing that fast.
Timing is still off, guys are out of synch. Yeah, that's bound to happen, and it's bound to get better as we move ahead. We still have a lot of starters not at full health, as well.
I believe. I believe that when it counts, we'll be ready.
I believe (although my rational mind knows better) that we will win every game, up to and including the Super Bowl. I believe that we're the best team in the NFL.
And I'll accept criticism, as log as it is reasoned and constructive. Unfortunately, what I've been seeing here tonight is mostly emotional, knee-jerk reaction, venemous tripe.
But I forgive you. I know how it can get. I've been there too, right with you, so many times that I can't even count them any more.
Call it rose-colored (or purple) glasses, call me a pollyanna, say whatever you like. I prefer optimism and faith. The Vikings are my team, and I will support them through the worst as well as the best.
I know you'll be there with me.
My Meeple is purple. What color is yours?

Re:The sky is falling!
You haven't even seen the game and you are ripping on people for bitching?!
I don't need the preseason to judge Peterson on blocking. Last year prove that he is not good at it.
Just because somebody says he can't block does not mean that the person said he is horrible.
Really!?
FYI most the criticism I have seen is fact because I watched the game and within reason.

Re: The sky is falling!
I'm not much worried about the team in general.
I was extremely disappointed with how TJ played. I honestly thought he might have learned a thing or two from Favre.
Thats really my only problem.
yes, the team didn't play great, but that will improve. TJ didn't show a sign of even moderate improvement.

Re: The sky is falling!
People are just mad they didn't have enough time to jerk off to Favre. And he got hit. People do not like their old man getting hit.
We're bringing purple back.

Re:The sky is falling!
There weren't a lot of positives to take away from this game.
It is only pre-season, but the team we saw last night didn't appear anywhere near ready for the Saints.
But the bulk of play was by backups and those soon to be cut, eg. 75.
Webb is a work in progress but we need to somehow keep him on the roster.
I don't see the kickoff specialist idea working very well.
Peterson ran well and protected the ball.
Rosenfels had some nice passes that weren't caught.
Cook looks pretty good.
The 49ers are a good team.

Isn't there another NFL team you can cheer for? One thing easily worse than cheering for Favre is cheering against him on your own team. Pathetic.gregair13 wrote:

Re:The sky is falling!
Just like Ultra said... its freakin preseason.
What I want to see most is that we leave the games with no injuries.
I was hoping to see Jackson a lil bit more poised, but our line looked awful and gave neither qb any kind of time. Thats probably my only real worry about what I saw yesterday.
The 9'ers do seem like they are going to be a good team this year. Its hard to know what to take out of a meaningless game though, how hard were any of the players really playing?
