You cannot regard Wade and Shank as offensive weapons yet. Defenses do not key on Shank or Wade when they go up against us. Thus far, thay are little more than offensive role-players."
As far as today goes, we can talk about that in the other thread.
In regards to Shiancoe, maybe I am just imagining all the talk about him stretching the field that went on in the offseason. I'll be honest, I have doubted him from day one. If he was brought in to just be a great blocker and a role-player, then he has done a fine job. Given that we have a solid role-player at the TE spot though, our offense still sucks. It would be awesome if Shiancoe could grow into a better receiver as well. I for one thought that with our young QB, he would hopefully have a bigger role, like a Chris Cooley or a Heath Miller.
Who said they were even brought in as weopons?
In regards to Wade, when he was brought in, our receiving corps consisted of Williamson (who was dropping a ton of passes) and Billy McMullen. He was brought in to be more than a slot receiver. I would go as far as to say that he has been more than just a slot receiver, but we still lack a dynamic pass catcher of any sort. I hold Williamson just as responsible for that as Wade, if not moreso. Rice is showing flashes. I would love to see him accross from a guy like Fitzgerald with Wade in the slot.
As far as weapons go in general, this offense needs some badly. This season Shiancoe and Wade have been solid, but realistically, this offense still sucks, especially in the passing game. It was good today and they got the job done. Hopefully they can rise to the occasion when more is needed from them."I hate when threads are destroyed by facts and logic."

Sid Hartman: Vikings' free agents have made an impact
It's not always the top draft picks who make the biggest contributions. Some, such as nickel back Charles Gordon, have earned their playing time.

Sure, the players selected by the Vikings in this year's draft are a big reason the team has won four of the past five games, but several free agents -- including nickel back Charles Gordon, a 2006 signee who had four tackles and one assist in the 42-10 victory over the Lions last week -- also are contributing.

Re: Sizing up FA's acquired by the Vikings - FA's have made an impact
That's pretty good read.
Wade's provided some solid leadership.
I'd love to see Allison and Rice and starters around him (sorry TWill)...if not a guy like Larry Fitz would realy make a great WR corps

Re: Sizing up FA's acquired by the Vikings - FA's have made an impact
All FAs have been solid.
You can't fault Wade and Shancoe of bad stats.
That's because there was no passing game to begin with.
You have to look at delivering when given the opportunity.
Both have done pretty well for the most part.
A few
mistakes here and there but I think every player makes mistakes here and there.
I have ot say the draft and Free Agency has been great for the vikings the past two years.
Look at last year.
Taylor, Hutch, Leber.
this year Wade, Shank, and Ciurcui have produced.
Draft has been pretty good too.
