It is true for the most part. A high-powered offense can win you games in the regular season, but when you get into the playoffs and the talent level increases, you must have a good D to keep you in the game.
Playoff games, especially the later rounds, are almost always close. Having a good D ensures your offense can do its part. The Vikes D will be much impoved this season, but top 10? Maybe, maybe not, we will see what the rookies and other young studs can do. The talent is there though.
Special teams is also something I think is overlooked sometimes. A punter missing a snap, like the Bears game last year, can easily lose you a game.
True! The Vikings may finish in the top 3 offenses this year again but, with a 15-20th ranked defense they won't go far.
In 1998 when the Viks went 15-1 and should have been the NFC representative in the SB, wasn't our Defence ranked 16th overall? That year we were the best team in the NFL in my opinion.
Until the "Dirty birds" flew in to Minny, you mean?
I can still see Atlanta's Head Coach Dan Reeves flapping his arms and dancing in the locker room afterwards. Ahhh Memories, Thanks. :ky:

And I can still see Vick, Reeves and the Falcons celebrating wildly after being the first team in NFL history to beat the Packers in Lambeau in the playoffs. It's not often you see the 6 team beat the 3 team, especially by 20 points.Quote:

You never lied!
Offense will get you to the playoffs. Defense wins the chapionship. It's that way 99% of the time
Did the Rams have a top 10 defense when they won the Super Bowl a few years back?
I thought their offense was great, defense was average.

Actually, we were still the better team. We just had a bad day. It was a horrible day to have a bad day too.Quote:
