Simpson's crucial catch wasn't supposed to happen

Minnesota Vikings: Jerome Simpson's day includes unlikely catch, crucial block

The acrobatic sideline catch Jerome Simpson made Sunday, Dec. 23, extending a drive on third down, wasn't even supposed to happen.

Quarterback Christian Ponder was trying to throw the ball away when he felt pressure on third and 3, but his arm got hit and the ball fluttered on him.

"I want to lie to you and say I meant to make that throw," Ponder said of the 17-yard completion
If Simpson was open enough to catch that pass, why didn't Ponder see him & throw to him in the first place, rather than try to throw it away?

Simpson wasn't open. If I am not mistaken he was actually double covered, and he had to jump pretty high to make the catch. PA said something about him showing off his 40 inch vertical when he caught it.

Who throws the ball away 17 yards down field?
Sounds ridiculous. Say you were innacurate.

About time a break or two went our way, no matter what was intended.

I wonder how many catches CC made that were supposed to be out of bounds. LOL

That cat made more catches of balls out of bounds than anyone I've ever seen. And he did that without ups....

Hey, you dodging my Everson questions?
