    SI Players' Poll on QBs

It is sad to think that some think in terms of color.

When I think if great QBs in the league today, I think:

Pep, McNair, Manning, Favre, McNabb, and maybe Brady

Brady may have won 2 superbowls but he needs to make 5 to 7 yrs before I put him in the greats of all time.
#1- who mentioned ANYTHING about color?

#2- How do you justify (other than being a Viking fan) that Pep is better than Brady??? Are you INSANE? Pep shouldnt even be on that list...

    SI Players' Poll on QBs

I didn't say he was better, I just said until he stays in the league longer, like a farve or a mcnair he doesn't get my vote. It is easy to say he is great after 3 years but I don't believe he is great until I get proof in the form of longevity. Look at that list of QBs 20 great QBs some a lot better than others in the term of leadership, all were skilled to get on that list. If he can struggle through a season when his team is crap then.

Montana was a great QB but I wouldn't have decalred him great after only 3 years.

I never said in that order, those are the 6 QB that pop into my head.
5 or 6 years ago Warner would have been on this list just like greg BRADY

Is Warner on anyones list of great QBs now?
He was a feild goal away from GReG still being a snot nosed little punk, if it wasn't for Vinatieri (SDSU - jackrabbits not aztecs).

    St. Louis 3 0 0 14 -- 17
    New England 0 14 3 3 -- 20

    STL- FG Wilkins 50, 11:50 1st
NE- Law 47 interception return (Vinatieri kick),
    6:11 2nd
NE- Patten 8 pass from Brady (Vinatieri kick),
    14:29 2nd
    NE- FG Vinatieri 37, 13:42 3rd
STL- Warner 2 run (Wilkins kick), 5:29 4th
STL- Proehl 26 pass from Warner (Wilkins kick),
    13:30 4th
    NE- FG Vinatieri 48, 15:00 4th

    Passing
St. Louis Att. Comp. Yds. TD Int.
    Warner 44 28 365 1 2

New England Att. Comp. Yds. TD Int.
    Brady 27 16 145 1 0

    SI Players' Poll on QBs

Yeah, Brady did get the MVP. It would have been different wthout the FG and the def TD. I thought the MVP was ADAM, mister CLUTCH. 48yds time running out.

The defense and the kicker won that game.
Int rtn for td and a game winning FG. 48 yds!!!!

    SI Players' Poll on QBs

And I am not arguing with ya, muchluv.

Is Favre the gunslinger he was? Nope.

Is he starting to float some passes high? Yep.

Is he able to repoduce the crazy scrambling passes he used to? Not really, and Delhomme does it better.

Would I place him in the top 2? Probably not right now.

Would I place him in the top 10? Absolutely.

Like any aging player, pure raw talent is replaced with experience and knowledge. And he has one thing that a lot of QB's, including Pepper, don't have right now, and that's solid leadership and the ability to inspire a team. You don't hear Driver going up to Favre and saying "Come on, Brett, lead us!" like Moss was doing to Daunte last week.

Last season is a perfect example. Say what you will about the holy thumb and Papa Favre, but he managed to take a team that was not going to make the playoffs and came within a stupid offensive decision (4th and 1) and a stupid defensive play (4th and 26) of making it to the NFC Championship against a team we waxed in Week 1 this season. He is able to inspire a team to play better, and there's no stat for that.

That is what we will miss most when he retires, because I think it will be easy to replace his stats.

JMO...agreeing with you but still stating a case for him.

I agree with you Los. I just totally disagreed that favre was the 2nd best QB in the league right now. I think the players just put him up there because they respect what he has done in his career, but that doesn't mean they actually think he is the 2nd best QB in the league right now. I would definitely put brady, mcnair, and manning as the top 3, in no particular order. After that it is up for grabs, with daunte, favre, vick and mcnabb.
