That kind of football and attitude will win games, the attitude that we will smash you into the turf and run you into the ground.
Coach Cowher, the longest tenured coach in the NFL.
Denny was the one coach, him and Bill had similar records and tenure, but Denny wore out his welcome while Bill managed to stay in good graces.
I am super glad that Pitt was able to keep the same coach for so long, but it has a lot to do with the fact that they have had the same owner forever. The Vikes have had 3 owners and 3 coaches from the Denny era up to now.
ALSO LOOK AT THE SHIPS THEY ONE...0
Denny suck never one nothing & had some stupid draft picks.
loosing the nfc championship game on poor caoching descisions[clock mgmt]

I fail to see the similarity, unless you toss out his record in Arizona.Quote:

Cowher: 141-82-1 (224) 63% in 14 years
Green: 108-83-0 ( 191) 57% in 12 years (11-21, 34% in Arizona & 97-62, 61% in Minnesota)
He has done nothing since leaving Minnesota.
If Tice would have kept coaching lineman like he should have and Green remained our coach I would not have been surprised if we went to the dance.
Since we are comparing stats throw up the Playoff appearances stats for each coach.
In a nutshell, no having the same coach for a very long time doesn't help you win.
He stays because he wins. He doesn't win because he stays. He's a good coach.
Dennis Green coached here for ten years, actually 9 if you don't count his last year where he totally flipped out and wasn't coaching at all.
For arguments sake we will say 10 years, he took us to the playoffs 8 times. 8 TIMES!
80%
Bill Cowher has gone 10 times in 14 years.
71%
So what Denny lacks in wins he makes up for in getting his team to the playoffs. Or at least he did at one time. Now he is stuck because he took a safe job where the only way to go is up or sideways.
I admire the Rooney family as owners and how they go about business. It is truly amazing that they have only had 2 coaches since 1969. And both were and are successful. The owner is 100% dedicated to Cowher and what he wants, he gets.

yeep. I dislike Cowher but respect him as a coach. He was on the firing line a few years ago and survived.Quote:
