Thread: Should the vikes take a look at.........

Kyle Turley, David Dixon or Dan Neil for depth or just to help our horrible o-line. I just want you guys opinion on this topic.

From an article I read yesterday David Dixon is way overweight & out of football shape, so rule him out.

If extra coaching doesn't work, Tice has a series of alternative plans that include short leashes for Withrow and Johnson in this game, and the possible promotion of second-year player Anthony Herrera down the road. Herrera, who was sidelined for nearly four weeks because of a staph infection that hospitalized him, returned to practice last week and has been working at right guard. He is also the No. 3 center.

Herrera is listed as questionable for this week. If he is unable to play, the Vikings could turn to Adam Goldberg in a pinch. That's what they did in the fourth quarter against Tampa Bay, when Johnson was overwhelmed in his first NFL game.

Another possible scenario at right guard that Tice mentioned Wednesday on his weekly KFAN radio show was the return of former Vikings right guard David Dixon. But Tice said after practice Thursday that he was "joking."

Dixon, the Vikings' starter at right guard from 1997 to 2004, is out of football but hasn't officially retired. Those who have seen him recently say he is extremely overweight.

Why is Turley unemployed?? Does he suck?

I thought he was supposed to be good?

he had back surgery two years ago and i dont think he was ever the same player after.

I dont think it would be a bad idea bringing back Dixon for some depth.

As for Dixon, if he can't play, he can't play. He sounds like more of a liability at this point.

He probably makes Fat Pat look skinny right now! :lol:

There has to be other alternatives on the waiver wire.........people dont realize that an o-line is really what makes or breaks a team. Remember in the late 80's when we had Irwin, Habib, Lowdermilk et al and 1998 when we had McDaniel, Christy, Stussie, Stringer, and Dixon.

Lets face it.....the Vikes have had some great lines. This is where the battle is won/lost in a game......an average QB can look like a superstar.....aka Dilfer-Ravens.

Kyle Turley, he may be a headache but he would be worth it at this point....

Turly, hmmmmmm..... I'm sure the Vikes have at least thought of it, don't be surprised if we sign him if the O-Line looks like it did last week.....
