Should Pat Williams get LESS playing time? A Quandry

I've been doing some thinking and I think we should utilize Spencer Johnson more often on second downs.
He's our current sack leader - and provides a partner on the inside (as far as pass-rushing goes) for Kevin Williams.
He thrives next to other pass rushing DT's (i.e. Hovan during his first two seasons).
Even if it weren't the case, it's time we stopped adhering so rigidly to the "take up a blocker" mentality.
That's not the way a Cover 2 defense works.
In a Cover 2 defense, the linemen are given more freedom to "tee off" and try to get to the QB or penetrate into the backfield, while the linebackers are expected to utilize their speed (which we have tons of) to converge on the ballcarrier (which we're good at).

We should also try to use exotic blitzes and pass rushes (not just blitzes - ones that will actually confuse the other team).
Line KWill up at different spots - like outside their worst pass-blocking tackle, f'rinstance - on third down.
He'll be considerably harder to double-team on the outside, and they'll only be able to send a tight end or a running back to help (both of which are easier to run over than 300-pound linemen).
Even if they slide their protection to his side in these situations, that leaves them vulnerable to the inside pass rush by Spencer Johnson and/or E.J. Henderson.

Alternately, they could actually USE Erasmus James once in a while.
    He's been practicing every day.
What the hell are they paying him for if they won't even let him show us what he's got?

I think keeping Pat in on 2nd downs is still good because teams know not to run up the middle and it takes away that part of the game plan. now if its a 2nd down and looks like a real passing situation then you put in Spencer. But when he's in there whether it be 1st or 2nd or 3rd they know not to run on us. He's one of those players you gameplan for.

Well, I think that's kind of implied.
Furthermore, it's not like our linebackers (or indeed, Spencer himself) are lacking in stopping the run.
I'm not advocating eliminating Pat from our gameplan by an means.

Robison is our current sack leader with 3 in the limited time he's been playing.

Johnson has 2 & so does EJ, Udeze (whom several people wanted to get rid of) & Edwards.

Here are the stats for the other "EJ".

    ;D

And no, he hasn't been playing.

There is something definately wrong there I fear.
Good thing we have Edwards and Robison at RDE and Udeze seems to be performing nicely now that he is back at LDE.

I'm happy with Edwards as the starter. James just hasn't played well at all since he returned.

Umm...James hasn't returned, he's been inactive since the season started.
