Should Favre be rated in top 10 QB's of all time.

I had broadway (willy) Joe Namath as the 18th best!
There has been a ton of good QB's. I hated Elway growing up. It wasn't till the late 90's at the end of his career that I realized just how damn good he was.

Man, The disrespect for Fran here must be due to youth.

I would also put Bart Starr ahead of Favre, just as I would put Tarkenton, Unitas, Graham, etc. ahead of him. Sorry but QBs just had it tougher back then and for a QB to put up the kind of numbers that those guys did, they had to be really good. QBs got hit harder by defenses and they had it tougher in the passing game because there was no 5-yard bump rule. Offensive linemen also had more restrictions on how they could block. And in spite of all that those guys did an amazing job.

Favre is a great QB but he's no top 10 of all time. Starr is though.

I would really have to disagree with you Whack! Favre isn't only a top ten QB of all time, but is a top five. I mean even though we don't have to like Favre, he is an outstanding QB and at the end of his carreer his stats will show as they do now, that he is one of the best the play the game at his position. Stats don't lie.

People Fran was nearly a 60% completions passer before the WCO. It was unheard of to be that accurate!

There are some pretty good names on the lists you guys have posted. It is subjective; the game has changed A LOT over the past 50 years. Guys like Unitas and Tarkenton put up fabulous numbers when the game was all about 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

All in all, in my subjective opinion, Favre HAS TO be one of the top 10 of all time. If he had the kind of defense around him that Terry Bradshaw had, Favre would have six or seven rings right now.

Personally, I don't think either Griese or Aikman belong in the top 10. Both are good QBs, but it was the strength of their teams running games and defenses that allowed them to succeed.

No love for Jim Kelly? Is that just because he was 0-4 in the Super Bowl? Good to see at least one person mentioned Warren Moon; he deserves consideration.

    :bootyshake:

    Sad but he probably is!

I never saw Starr and the older ones play. Montana was the most Clutch, Marino had the quickest release, Elway had Guts, and Favre had the wickedest Rocket Ball I have ever seen. :argue:

He could easily be in the top 10 of all time, and rightfully should be. He has had quite an impressive career. I don't believe he makes the top 5 though, not of all time.

Stats are great but that would mean that Marino and Tark would be the greatest of all time, but Montana had guts and a skill to read a defense like nobody else. Favre is a great QB, but there is a lot of them and he is not top 10 in my opinion.
Favre also had a lot of problems with reading a defense and with trying to hard to make a play and throwing up ducks for grabs, does he have the strongest arm ever (probably) but that alone does not make him the greatest (would I loved to have him as a Viking, damn straight).
What we've got here is failure to communicate.
