TE's have been killing us in the seam.
It's not always him letting those plays happen.

The S's in this scheme are supposed to help the LB out there.
You have absolutely no idea what sharper is supposed to be doing on every play. And until you do that argument is pointless.

He has missed several big tackles allowing guys to run free for TD's.
There are 10 other players on the field with him, where were they? Everybody misses tackles, it happens. I've seen Winfield miss a few big tackles and yet nobody seems to care about that.

He has repeatedly got caught gambling (especially in cover 3) to one side or the other even before the QB tries to sway him one way or the other.
And your proof of this is? How do you know he wasn't supposed to favor that side?

Even if sharper has lost a step he is still a better option at this point than Tyrell. And I don't believe he has.

Sharpers been a nice addition but its time to let him go. His game is no where near it was 3 years ago and even then I wasn't overly impressed. This year he is getting beat so bad at times I wonder if we should just start Tyrell and Madeiu. Seriously. It's already been said but he's always out of positions, too slow, and gambles and gets burned.
Because I'm a Vikings fan, they are that much sexier.

No but he has had a lions share of them.

You have absolutely no idea what sharper is supposed to be doing on every play. And until you do that argument is pointless.
What, of course I have an idea.....

Any yutz with half a brain knows how the scheme is supposed to be run, add to that the alignments we see and you can be about 85% sure of what his role was/is on each and every play.

There are 10 other players on the field with him, where were they? Everybody misses tackles, it happens. I've seen Winfield miss a few big tackles and yet nobody seems to care about that.
First off, I hack on ole Whinny quite a bit, as I do with all the other players who mess up.

Second, again back to my point on basics of the scheme and alignments.
It isn't hard to see who misses the tackles.

Even if sharper has lost a step he is still a better option at this point than Tyrell. And I don't believe he has.
Seriously, to say he hasn't lost a step is simply off the mark.
Every player in the league eventually starts to slow down.
Age, hits, reps etc all take a toll.
Best indicator of when that is happening is to look at his stats.
A consistent decline my friend is a good indicator.

Again, I would love to keep him but I sure the hell wouldn't give him a long term, high dollar contract.

I would like the Sharper haters to please tell us who we should replace him with. It won't be as easy as some think.

Now that the Vikings are in the playoffs, every person on the roster is a play away from being indelibly inked into Vikings history.

Not sure why STJ couldn't step in/up and play.

we could put a ghost back there and it would be the same thing. he has to cover half of the field and he is always a second late to every pass. i will give him one thing.. i have not seen him get beat deep but i have seen alot of balls over the middle and the reciever should be broken in half and hes not there.
