I don't think it's fair to compare a team who hurt a QB one week, and took a series of cheap shots on another QB the next to 2 debatable illegal hits, and a 40 year old QB throwing a block. Especially considering the comments that players and a particular coach have made since that series of incidents.

Exactly where did I make that comparison? PJ said "I don't recall the Vikes over the last few years being questioned on playing dirty" and I pointed out that they had.

If I were on the filed I am assuming I ahve the talent and size. You must be the type that has to be told everything. Pretend I am Jared Allen and he is saying this if it helps! Kinda what he did to Schaub, along those lines.

I was thinking more like the Vikings team as a whole, or the defense, not one person. But yes, I forgot about that. I don't think for one second Favre meant any harm, I do think Jared had some intentions though.

The hit on Warner was legal, but totally unnecessary. But If you were a player and had a chance to absolutely blow up a QB like that, you can't tell me you wouldn't take it. It did show the Saints true colors though.

The last time the Vikings were questioned for dirty play was Jared Allen two years ago, against Matt Schaub. That was debated by analysts, and I personally didn't think it was cheap (there's your bias Z ), but there were people from all over on both sides of the fence. It didn't look flagrant or anything, like a certain team's dives at the ankles and knees, it was more he was on the ground and tried to get to him as fast as he could.
2008 surely fits into "over the last few years".

    =Z=
I know it does. I was pointing out that we had been criticized for it in the last few years.

You can't be serious. Favre's hit was ok because he "loves the game and was just having fun!" Didn't you see him get up an laugh after that?

All kidding aside, that was still a great play by favre to make the throw (or hand off, i can't remember) and still run up field to get a block, albeit an illegal one. Was pretty cool, considering that was the game that favre became a "Real Viking"

Allen is a dirty player but it is ok because he has a mullet, is a real cowboy, and plays for the Vikings

Re:Sharper Confirms What We Already Knew

If you play the game as intended (see Jared Allen, Ray Lewis, Dick Butkus, Lack Lambert, Ray Nitschke, Steve Hutchinson, Joey Browner, Bill Brown.......), to try and knock the fucking head off of your opponent, you will get your share of penalties. Being a "physical, tough nosed, mean-streak," type of player, does not mean you are Conrad Dobler. I'm with Zeus on this one...

IMHO, Sharper crossed the line when he threatens and boasts off the field. Sharper is a cock and, rest assured, if given the opportunity, a Viking will take him out, or try, hopefully, by executing a play as intended and not focusing on him. This is clearly a Ditka tactic, to make such absurd comments, in an attempt to distract your opponent. Bush League, transparent putz.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

Again - where did I say it was anything? He was fined - it was an illegal block - as I recall, the other team was rather pissed off about him going after the knees. AND it was pre-season.

As I said above - one team's great play is another team's cheap shot.

Do you honestly expect that if the Vikings knew that, say, Jay Cutler had bruised ribs, they wouldn't try to hit him in the ribs? That's part of football.
I honestly think if Cutler had bruised ribs, it might be a target for us yes. However, I don't think we would focus our game around hitting him after the ball was gone, and taking as many cheap shots on his ribs as possible.
I think the Vikings would do exactly what the Saints did, given the chance. Hopefully, they wouldn't be stupid enough to blab about it to the press.

    Football is a man's game.
And real men don't take cheap shots. They play straight up and legal, not like bitches.
That's a huge stinking pile of BS right there. My "clean hit by a Vikings player" is the other side's "cheap shot on our guy" and vice-versa.

    =Z=
Same goes for Sharper's comment. Had one of our players twitted that about Sharper, most here would be lapping it up like dogs & loving it. That's pretty evident by the many replies here wishing harm to Sharper.

Football has a lot of smack talk. When something like this is said against one of our players, we start bashing the person who said it, but if one of our own players says it about another player, we soak it all in & love it.

Fans are the exact same way about players, perhaps love 'em when they are here, probably hate them when they leave.

One only needs to look at the Favre thread from last year when he first said he was staying retired. Even Mars said "Fuck Favre" & many others bashed him as well, but the very second he decided to play, they were once again waxing his jock.

"If at first you don't succeed, parachuting is not for you"
