The Vikings' season ticket renewal is reported to be down some 20 percent, and executive suites aren't as easy to sell as they have been in the past at $8,000 per game or $80,000 for a season.

Well that sucks.
Way to burst my bubble negative nancy. ;D
Not to beat this issue to death...
but I am still unclear of what the "down some 20 percent" is referring to.

Did we only have 80% of season ticket holders renew?
Is the renewal rate 20% lower than last year (if 85% of ticket holders renewed last year, did only 65% renew this year)?
Is the renewal rate 20% lower than the long time average?

The first and third scenario would not be as worrisome to me because I think that would fall into the expected range considering the economics and the state of the team.
The second scenario would be extremely worrisome, considering that we needed corporate help on three games last year.

I would honestly be very surprised if the second scenario was the case - that would be a HUGE decline in sales, and IMHO unlikely considering we not only improved our record, but also have the most exciting player in football, and flirted with the playoffs last year.
I don't know a lot of the scalpors lost their shirts last year. We were buying tickets at a quarter of face value for
some games last year. I doubt very many tickets were bought to be resold this year.
I know I am a first time season ticket buyer and purchased 4 new season tickets. That has to help.
Do you think I will get first dibs on season tickets for the LA vikings?
Stop it!
;D

I'm part of that 20%.
So you're not renewing ANY of your tickets?
Will you only be buying tickets from eBay or brokers this year?

=Z=
eBay only. Brokers are to expensive & I'll get tickets for face value or a lot less on eBay this year.
If your planning on paying face value anyways, why not just keep the season tickets?
Because they wanted the money two weeks ago & I didn't have it.
Ahhh, well that's understandable.
That's a lot of cash to shell out at once...even if they spread it out over a few payments.
Are you still planning on coming to all the games?
Tailgate wouldn't really seem complete without you there.

I'll get to as many as I can afford.
Won't you break the streak?

You should start a post to see if anyone would want to pay for them this year. They are great seats and if you lose them it is not likely you will be able to get them back. I think by 09 the vikings will be the hot ticket again(after the vikings win the 08 superbowl).
I already did in a few of the threads & there were no takers.
I would have loved those seats but it's too much money to fork over on my budge...especially since I still need to pay for rebuilding my outboard motor.
I probably could have bought some decent seats for $2500 huh?
My seats were only $1,340 for the pair for the season.
Where were they?

Who cares about blackouts when you live in ND and have season tickets?
You need to be more selfish NP.

Yeah, but I miss the days of old, when the dome was so gol 'darnit loud that your ears rang the whole five hour drive home after the game.
You can't do that when there are empty seats...
Since when did it take five hours?
1 hour to get out of the city.
4 hours to drive to Fargo.
You need a better route out.

=Z=
No kidding, I can do it in just under 3
It is 241 miles from my front door to the Metrodome.
That is 3 solid hours of driving, plus a stop for gas and food somewhere on the way.
So I usually average about 4 hours on the interstate after games.
I throw that extra hour in there for walking back to the car, getting out of the ramp, getting out of the city...

Section 231, row 18, seats 1 & 2. They were on the 40 YL. They were $67 sets, but the seats 1 row right in front of them were $100 ea. The seats right across the aisle were $71.
