The Vikings' season ticket renewal is reported to be down some 20 percent, and executive suites aren't as easy to sell as they have been in the past at $8,000 per game or $80,000 for a season.

    Well that sucks.
Way to burst my bubble negative nancy. ;D
Who cares about blackouts when you live in ND and have season tickets?
You need to be more selfish NP.

Yeah, but I miss the days of old, when the dome was so gol 'darnit loud that your ears rang the whole five hour drive home after the game.
You can't do that when there are empty seats...
Since when did it take five hours?
1 hour to get out of the city.
4 hours to drive to Fargo.

Not to beat this issue to death...
but I am still unclear of what the "down some 20 percent" is referring to.

Did we only have 80% of season ticket holders renew?
Is the renewal rate 20% lower than last year (if 85% of ticket holders renewed last year, did only 65% renew this year)?
Is the renewal rate 20% lower than the long time average?

The first and third scenario would not be as worrisome to me because I think that would fall into the expected range considering the economics and the state of the team.
The second scenario would be extremely worrisome, considering that we needed corporate help on three games last year.

I would honestly be very surprised if the second scenario was the case - that would be a HUGE decline in sales, and IMHO unlikely considering we not only improved our record, but also have the most exciting player in football, and flirted with the playoffs last year.

I don't know a lot of the scalpors lost their shirts last year. We were buying tickets at a quarter of face value for
some games last year. I doubt very many tickets were bought to be resold this year.
I know I am a first time season ticket buyer and purchased 4 new season tickets. That has to help.
Do you think I will get first dibs on season tickets for the LA vikings?

I just can't afford it this year with the wedding & trying to get Jing over stateside & all the costs associated with it.

I'll have to try my luck on eBay.

Damn. Those were some nice sets too.

So you're not renewing ANY of your tickets?
Will you only be buying tickets from eBay or brokers this year?

    =Z=
eBay only. Brokers are to expensive & I'll get tickets for face value or a lot less on eBay this year.

If your planning on paying face value anyways, why not just keep the season tickets?

Because they wanted the money two weeks ago & I didn't have it.

Plus I know I can get tickets under face value & the preseason ones for practically nothing.

I've been doing it for 7 years.
