    VIKINGS 2005 CONTRACT STATUS

    * Please note that these salaries are base compensation ONLY and are, in many cases, just a minor portion of the what counts against the salary cap. Many contracts have incentives and signing bonuses that count more against the cap than the base salary. The salary cap for every NFL team in 2005 will be 65.5 percent of all shared gate revenues and all shared broadcast revenues (defined gross revenue). ERFA = Exclusive Rights Free Agent; RFA = Restricted Free Agent; UFA = Unrestricted Free Agent.

That is a lot of money. A lot of players and a lot of money. Thats all I really thought about when I looked at the list.

It's because they ( the players as a whole ) generate billions of dollars a year for the league and the owners.

I really doubt Shannon Snell does though.

If you think this money is too much, check out any payroll in the NHL. We have 4th liners/no names making well over 1,000,000 per season. All this without a TV contract. Strike will last 2 years. There is no better salary cap structure than the NFL.
