Don't worry though, he is charismatic and will make a lot of tv appearances and sell a lot of jerseys.

I think Sharper is a lot better than people think. Howevr, my opinions don't hold much weight on this site as they tend to be logical and there is no room for logic as a Vikings fan.

    Re: A Saints Fan's Question

Sharper will be a good pick up for your defense.
He is very intelligent and knows where every defensive back should be and what they should be doing, to counter the offense.

He's a little slower now but still good.

He gambles a little ( I think that's one reason he is no longer a Viking).
But he will make some plays if given the freedom to do so.

As far as run support goes, I don't think it was ever his strong suit.

There was a game toward the end of last season where Sharper got injured and left the game.
They put in the guy who will be replacing Sharper this year.
They couldn't figure how to line up and called a time out.
After the time out a pass was thrown that burned Sharpers replacement.

I pray we don't regret this move.

    Way past his prime....way.
He was the best safety we had.So i guess we might need a safety now
It's not a coincidence that the Vikings pass defense got a lot better once Madieu Williams got over his neck injury.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Yeah it put Johnson back on the bench.

I admit Sharper is a shadow of who he once was but what he lacked in speed / quickness he made up for it (TO A EXTENT) with his experience.

Johnson has the physical tools but was often late on his coverage last season.
Hopefully he learns and becomes better but that isn't guaranteed.

    Re: A Saints Fan's Question

He ran an unofficial 4.4 forty time before the start of last season

I don't feel he has got much slower.. But he definitley wasn't able to get over from his zone as quick as we needed

If he plays FS for you and is allowed to work his magic you guys will get a steal

Sharper was always at his best as a free roaming safety, a ball hawk. But that does not work with our cover-2.

Now he's old, slowed down a bit...and like was mentioned before, a lot of missed tackles, bad pursuit angles taken, and one fumble not pounced on that cost us a game.
    Precisely!

your absolutely correct... since Madieu was never taking over Shapers job.... he took over Johnson's job, he was the weak link, not sharper... look at that philly game, Sharper did a good job, Johnson did crap.
