TJack makes a strong #2. I still don't think he is starter material, but I think he is one of the best backups in the league. I think Sage holds the most trade value for us. If we can I say we trade him and recoup some of what we paid for him. If not, keep him as the #3 and push Webb to the practice squad. If he gets picked up, no huge loss. He is an intriguing prospect, but nothing I would lose sleep over.
So if you don't think TJ is starter material, who do you start if Favre misses 4 weeks with injury? Sage or TJ?

    Re:Sage vs. Webb vs. Tjack

From watching Rosenfels in Houston, as long as he can keep his head in the game, he can be a very effective back-up. In 2007 he erased a 28-point deficit against Tennessee, all in the 4th quarter. The only glaring problem I saw with him was when he tried to do too much (Rosencopter game, up 27-10, just hand it off). Does he have that mental toughness back yet? I'm not sure, but when he left Houston he didn't seem to have it back yet.

    Re:Sage vs. Webb vs. Tjack

I personally think at this point Sage should be the odd man out.

Going into camp and preseason I felt like Webb had no shot. But there is just something about him ... and I would not risk trying to get him through to the practice squad (though I still think he would make it).

I was a Sage guy when we traded for him. I think he was ABSOLUTELY brought in to start over T-Jack. I think he looked good last season right before Favre got to town ... and I think that the whole Favre thing has taken the wind out of Rosenfels.

Sage had to feel like this was his chance to be a starter in a very good situation ... and then he had the rug torn out from under him. I think he again came out firing in preseason this year "just in case" ... but again ... he now knows that he has NO shot at starting ...

I personally don't think Sage has any interest in being the No. 3 guy for another season, and I don't blame him.

It would be the right thing for us to do to cut him loose, sooner rather than later, so he can find somewhere else where he can at least be the No. 2 and hope to get one more chance to show the football world what he can do.

Unfortunately for Sage, the NFL is a business and the Vikings need to do what's in the Vikings best interest. Cutting Sage loose at this point would definitely not be in the Vikings best interest.

True, but they weren't going to be backups until Favre got here. They were competing for a starting job, therefore one of them should've been starting material.
I am NOT here to provide good football insight or rational observations. I am an emotional 19 year old Viking fan and I expect you to adjust your expectations from my posts.

I don't think there was any competition at all this year. The competition was last year and TJ won out.

    Re:Sage vs. Webb vs. Tjack

I get the impression that they are excited about Webb and have no plans to cut him, which makes it a straight shoot out between TJack and Sage.

Which of the 2 has the most trade value?.. we wouldnt get more than 5/6th for either really.. i thought they were trying to shop Sage by playing him for most of the St Loius game but then TJack sucked ass against the 9ers so maybe they are rethinking it.

    Who stays..

    Heart: TJack Head: Sage

Excellent post Midg.......Quick question, how long does it take for Joe to become a NFL quality starter IYO?

I really like the kid, but believe he is about 4 years away.

I think he is probably at least this season and next season away ... but by then I feel like you should have a really good feel of whether or not he has made the adjustments needed on the passing/reading defenses side of things.

If he has ... and T-Jack has turned into anything, then T-Jack is the starter in 2011, 2012 and 2013 (of course, unless we bring McNabb in) and by 2014 (4 full seasons as the No. 3 and No. 2) Webb is ready to make his move hopefully.

Of course ... he is a sixth-round flier and might turn into nothing ... but as I stated ... there is just something about him that I like when I see him on the football field.
