    Sage

    So, we are definitely shopping him.

    You can't be any clearer after tonight.

    Which means that TJack is... shudder... Maybe he's better after watching Favre.

    Or Maybe shopping Sage to make room for Favre? YOu can't keep 4 qb's and if Favre comes back, then they will have to make room for him

    Am I missing something here? Sage tore it up tonight!

    23/34 for 310yds and 3TD's!

    If anything I think buh bye Joe Webb, at least the practice squad.

    I think Jackson might have to some more pressure behind him then expected.

    Wish T-Jack would've stayed in longer and Sage definitely had a good night. However in 9 or 10 days, they'll both be forgotten.

    A couple of you are clearly missing what Webby was saying.

    It would appear with that performance that we are shopping Sage. We are saying, "Look, this guy can play and make [insert team here that needs a QB] better right now. Give us an offer because we are ready to move on with Favre, T-Jack and Webb."

    Of course, we could also be seeing what we got in Sage, just in case the Silver Fox decides to officially ride off into the sunset.

    Re:Sage

    I see what Webby is saying but that is just too big of a leap for me. It's much more likely that we are just treating Jackson like the starter (meaning limited time in the first preseason game).

    If anything, Sage proved that he a more than competent backup, not good trade bait. Maybe its the same thing, but I don't think extended play time means that he's on the block. That was the first live action Sage has seen in a year. I think the coaches realized that and gave him a lot of time because of that.

    Being traded would be a sad reward for such a good performance.

    Remember when people were happy he would be here as a starter?

    Yup Wednesday the 25th sounds about right to me. During the morning too so Paul Allen can have another orgasm on KFAN lol

    Yeah it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to keep Rosenfels. Most likely he'll be the 3rd QB and the odds of getting that deep down the depth chart are bad, especially with the iron man Favre...but if it did, there's 0 chance Webb could give them any kind of chance to win. Judd Zulgad said the other day that Webb looks way more raw than T-Jack did in his first camp, and I know how most of you feel about T-Jack's development.

    I think you have to consider the situation:
    -It was a preseason game;
    -It was the Rams;
    -Sage played against the backups; and
    -Against base defenses.

    I expect a 32 year old QB to do fairly well in that situation. Still a good performance, but not something that makes me drastically alter my opinion on a guy.

    As to the grand scheme of things, if Favre doesn't come back it's Tarvaris, Sage, and Webb. Tarvaris is the presumptive starter, but Childress has shown a willingness to move guys around before so I think you have to wait and see.

    If Favre does return, then Sage really doesn't have a future with the team. He's old. He's not that good. He might be better than Tarvaris, but the coaches don't seem to have that opinion at the moment. Sage doesn't have any real long-term upside.

    Meanwhile with Webb, I have a harder time than ever imagining him making it to the practice squad after watching him last night. His athletic ability and solid arm are too good for other teams to pass up if we tried to sneak him by. He may be the fourth best QB on the roster right now, but he's only 23 and has a future with this franchise even if it ends up being merely as a backup.

    So I think Webby was spot on with his original comment, assuming Favre returns. The Vikings want other teams to get a good long look at Sage and think about whether he could help them. If Favre returns everyone assumes the Vikes will cut him, but if Sage plays well enough that there are multiple teams interested the Vikes can probably snag a low draft pick from someone that wants him more than anybody else.
    When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]
