Safety Valve
Well, typically I don't post much but I feel my thoughts before the season started have come true so far. No, I did not predict the injuries and surgeries nor did I predict an 0-2 start. But I did predict a loss in production because we let a certain RB go. And we didn't even try to find a replacement... sorry Young and Gayheart, you weren't it.
We are missing our safety valve. We had the money. He didn't even want to start apparently. Yep, I am talking about Chester Taylor. Not only did he provide a virtually reliable target when we needed 4 or 6 but he blocked very well and he moved well in open space to get open if Favre had no other options. You're welcome Cutler.
Our offense is missing that dynamic IMO. Last year, how wonderful was it to have so many weapons? AP, Rice, Harvin, Shancoe, Taylor. Defenses didn't even know who to cover. This year, how unbearable is it to only have AP and Shancoe providing most of the offense? Cover Shancoe and let AP run, because chances are Favre won't be able to use thier shitty remaining WR's which has turned our offense into the worst offense in league right now.
This is when Taylor would have really shown his value IMO. I blame the Vikings staff for not giving CT the money to keep him here. What exactly did we do with all that extra money anyway? Print out "Pants on the Ground" T-shirts?
Sidebar Thought:
With Bush now out of the Saints line-up with a broken leg, I thought this...
"Are the Saints a better team without Bush or with Bush on the team...? Answer: Better with, obviously. (I example Bush because he was like CT in the aspect that he was not an every-down back who provided a spark to the offense when needed.)
Then I thought.."Were the Vikes a better team without CT or with CT still on the team...?
At least we are playing the Lions this week. But I honestly would not be surprised if Detroit wi..... I can't say it.

Re: Safety Valve
The reason we didn't pay Chester is simple. He was not worth $7 million guaranteed.
That is all ... end of discussion really.

Re: Safety Valve
I don't think Chester is even a factor in the Vikings problems this year. It's good that he went somewhere that he can be a first-string back. We couldn't afford him.
It's what you learn after you know it all that counts.

Re: Safety Valve
I've heard in more than one place oohhh they're missing Chester Taylor. I was a big Ttay fan, but from what I see AD has come leaps and bounds in catching passes. Not sure we're missing him all that much.

We're missing Rice
We missed Harvin
We're missing Griffin and Cook
We are NOT missing Chester.
With the ball in his hands, AD is far more dangerous than CT is, and he's catching just fine. CT actually had a pretty bad season as far as catching the ball goes last year, compared to other years.

I agree with all except the Cook part. I don't think we can really miss someone who's only game experience comes from a couple preseason games.purpledoom wrote:

Just to clarify, I meant he isn't a first down back on the depth chart. Not that he isn't worthy of being one.12purplepride28 wrote:
