Safety facts
http://blogs.startribune.com/vikingsblog/?p=2134
The Vikings’ two safeties in the first half of today’s game against Green Bay tied a team record. The Vikings also had two safeties against Atlanta on Oct. 5, 2003. The Vikings have three safeties this season to tie a team mark also set in 1965 and 1981.
Defensive end Jared Allen tied a team record with his second safety of the season. Alan Page also had two in 1971.

Safeties seem to be happening a lot this year not only for the Vikes but around the league.

Re: Safety facts
Can someone explain what was wrong with Rodgers pitching the ball from the end zone? Are underhanded forward passes not allowed? I haven't been able to figure that one out.

Go Vikings!

I don't know if they intended an intentional grounding call and misspoke or if he was saying that intentional grounding is an illegal forward pass.
It was intentional grounding though and the safety should have been called, so it worked out.

exactly, as the announcer said immediately after the call, it should have been intentional grounding"vikesfargo" wrote:

Re: Safety facts
Like everyone said it should have been called Intentional Grounding. The ball didn't even make it back to the line of scrimmage.

Think the refs were in a dilemma as they didn't want to call it... then when they realised Brett wasn't playing for the Pack anymore they knew they were safe to do so, obviously in the panic they called the wrong thing"vikesfargo" wrote:

I like safeties.
Safeties give 2 points and I also give 2 points for explaining why I like safeties.
Point 1. It is an original way to score.
Point 2 and most important. The safety symbol reminds me of a pussy .
I like safetiesEl underdog.

Re: Safety facts
Packer fans on a pro football talk website are up in arms. They are crying left an right claiming that the WR is in the area.
I believe that thats why they chose illegal forward pass. I beleive intentional grounding can be challenged.
